Default B16 engine Swap into HRV

Hello, I am Radioak iam from Spain, and i have an Honda HRv 5 doors FWD of the 2000 year.

I want to change the engine for a B16a2 but i don't know sure if the mounts are compatible or if i will die trying...

Any suggestions are wellcome.

To the other side are to put a turbo to the D16... but i prefer to swap it before.

Hello RadioakHRV,

Sorry, don't know the answer to your question but there are a couple of guys on the board who have been discussing doing something similar.

I still thnk you could fit a Civic Type R block in there, or maybe something out of a CRV.

Will leave it to those who know more!

In the meantime, welcome to the forum

Who cares if the mounts fit .. if they don't just make new ones that do. I would have thought all you're after is a rough match of drive shafts and gearbox, the rest is just down to mechanical ingenuity and skill

what are the steps to do a new mounts i that case?

I have the gearbox of the b16, so the gearbox will not a "serious" problem.

Put the block in where you need it, make notes on what sits where, then weld up the brackets to fit :-)

I'm sure it's about as simple as that - how much more to it can there be?

Always worked in the kit cars i've built .. you just fitted what you wanted and made up whatever mounts you needed to fit it wherever it needed to go.

Welcome!

I wouldn't worry about the mounts, they are relocatable. The main issue is the transmission fit and the routing of the axles. it can be evaluated easily with a measuring tape

The fact that yours is FWD gives some hope on the project...

Heh - you'll be largely on your own, but if you make a good job of it .. you might have a few willing future customers - i'd love to get 200bhp into the HRV - see just how much it will handle before you upset the balance of it.

Default engine swap

would advice you to fit in b18c engine instead. the mounts won't be a problem since they can be modifiede or custom made. fyi, been using b16a with b20b block in my hr-v... with lots of mods... i.e. high-comp pistons, ported heads and bigger valves etc. power wise... would advice that you swap in b18c.
