Default How many quarts of oil for oil change with filter

The manual says the crankcase take 5.3 quarts, but everytime i change my oil, i have only needed 4 quarts.

What are others putting in on an oil change?

I usually use about 4 and 1/4 quarts. The Honda service manual says to use 4.4 US qts, including filter.

next time you go to the bathroom ( office) bring your manual in unless you are afraid to get it dirty open up to back page and read.....4.4 us quarts 4.2l &3.7 imp qt

pg 247 is eng oil talks about oilpg 342 gives you the info you need 4.2 with out filter 4.4 with filter
an 5.6 quarts is the total
so you owe :leexn47 an apologie
you do not put 5.3 in all the time because you never get the true amount of oil out every time. so placeing 4 quarts and a third in will do just fine....... take the time to read your manul and you will not go wrong

I have a second gen with the 2.4. If I use the old design oil filter (305) it takes an even 5 quarts. That is the reason I use the bigger filter.

Do you really want the oil level on the top hole? I thought you should fill the oil in between the low and high mark.

you should fill it to max
my theory is that when the engine starts up, the oil will go to the head
so there will be less oil on the pan

4.25 Quarts sounds good to me. I recently did it and it used less than 1/2 quart over 4.
