Default life expectancy for CR-Vs?

What sort of life expectancy do CR-Vs have? Obviously Honda has a reputation for long-lasting cars; I am currently driving a 1992 Accord with about 170,000 miles that I'm getting ready to replace. Does that reputation for long life extend to Honda's SUVs, too?

Based on my budget, I'm considering a CR-V circa 1998-2000. I'm seeing ones with around 50,000-60,000 miles on them in my price range; just curious, based on that mileage, how much longer I might expect the vehicle to last. Is it reasonable to expect it to run well up to 100,000 miles? 125,000? 150,000? More?

Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks!

150,000 miles is only 240,000Km . . Our first V had almost 200,000 km on it when we got it, and was a champ. After we sold it I very nearly bought a '97 that had 290,000 Km (180,000 miles) and it was in almost perfect shape too. Perfect compression, etc. I don't see why they shouldn't go way past 400,000 Km without major work, provided you get the valves adjusted regularly, and do the basic maintenance. They don't rust out like Toyotas. :-)

Hanging around here is a good start, since:
"engineers know the rules . . owners know the exceptions"

"More" .... if it's been taken care of.

(Your last name wouldn't happen to be Bagwell, would it? )

ha! No - just a fan. Grew up in Northwest Houston, though now living in Philadelphia. I was happy to see your avatar when looking through the forum earlier.

Thanks for the responses!

A CRV bought in Philly might not last that long. I lived in the city of brotherly love for 5 years and suffered several brake-ins, bent rims, flat tires, and even a new front thanks to a person who ran a red light. The city is just not friendly to cars.

I have a friend with a '97 AWD that currently has 186K on the odometer. He changes the oil regularly with a non-synthetic brand and has changed the trans fluid three times. No problems other than brakes, starter switch, recall and other scheduled maintenance items.

RiverCRV, My V itís in miles.

Maintenance
Every 3000 miles I do an engine and diff oil change. The engine I use Castrol Synthetic and the diff I use the oil from Honda. Every six months I have the engine and radiator flush. I also have a Level Ten STAGE 3 transmission and torque converter; these are service by them only. I don't trust anyone else but Level Ten to work on the tranny and t-converter.
