Default Heater/AC Fan Not Working

The fan for the heater/AC/Defroster in my 2004 CRV suddenly quit working. The fuse, motor and switch all checked out okay. Does anyone know what might cause this problem?

Sounds like the thermoresistor is bad. Nine times out of ten, that is what the problem is.

Where are you? I can repair most of them. Usually a failing blower motor with excessive wear in the brushes causes the transistor to fail.

I have the same issue. Sometimes the ac just stopped blowing for no reason but then sometimes ok. When it happens, i just fiddle with the ac/heater/mode controls and also the ac on/off until the ac works. Have changed the blower fan but still the same. Could it be the ac control unit failing? I understand that can't be fix or is it?

Next time that happens, instead of fiddling with the controls, try tapping the blower motor. If it comes on, then it's your blower motor going bad again...

Frankly, I doubt its the blower motor because it was changed 3 weeks ago and I even fitted back the old motor to try. Surprisingly, it worked and that means I have a spare blower motor now. So its definitely not the motor but something else. I'm just worried its the ac heater control module because that is something thats hard to get here for this model. Appreciate your advise.

Ok, well next time it happens turn the fan speed to max and see if it starts blowing air again. If it does, your blower resistor is bad. It's under the passenger side of the dash.

OK thanks. If its the resistor / transistor can it be repaired and if yes whats the level of difficulty?

Easier for you to decide about how hard it is.... Just SEARCH: 'Blower transistor' and look at the first five or six threads that apply to you. I'd call it EASY but I have some electronics background.

It's probably about as difficult as changing the Cabin Filter (and many of the same steps).

First, read the Owner's Manual, then SEARCH, your Internet is STILL WAY faster than mine.

Have searched and read the thread. If its as difficult as changing cabin filter then cool because I've changed that before but I have no electronics background. Anyhow, will give it a try.
Love this forum.
