Today, while I was driving, I head a ping or pop when I pushed the clutch in. I turned off the radio and listened more carefully and determined the noise was coming from my clutch when I pressed it in. The noise is more of a "spring getting caught on a rigid edge then letting go" type of noise than anything. This happens when I shift. I pushed it multiple times in a row and the noise went away. A few stop lights later, I heard it again. This is not a loud noise, and driving has not been affected in any way, but I wanted to know if there was a simple fix, a TSB or if anyone had any other information on this. Help is always appreciated as nothing really came up in my searches.

Clutch pedal return springs can make that noise.
Yes, the HELMS manual says to grease the pedal pivot and return spring. Trouble is, you can't see up there... I remove the under-dash panel and spray white lithium grease up there, near the clutch pedal pivot. You can't see what you are aiming for...but usually it only takes one or two tries to quiet it down. There is a Topic on the board somewhere with the parts diagram references.

This was on a non-Honda (Toyota Tacoma), but I crawled underneath the dash to get to it. I'm pretty sure this can apply to all makes and models as well. Squeeks, rattles and odd noises really get on my nerves and I have even taken it upon myself to tear apart the dashboard on a brand new car to try and find the cause of it (some noises only happen under certain conditions and its usually impossible to duplicate the noise when the vehicle is at the service dept). I am thankful that none of my Hondas have ever had weird noises so far (especially my 2010 Pilot - but it does have a wacky moonroof that is starting to baffle me).

The tech I spoke to immediately pointed out that this is not covered for the 06, only up to 04. Additionally, the master cylinder (probably) needs to be replaced, which apparantly has nothing to do with what they replaced last January. Now, I've got the option to bring it in and pay the hourly rate to trouble shoot and determine the cause of the sound (even though I've already explained that and even printed the service bulletin) After that, I get to pay for whatever materials they need to repair the issue and the hourly rate as well. Over the phone, the tech tells me, "if we have to replace the master cylinder, it will not be free, probably at least a couple hundred bucks for that alone." Obviously, my other option is to let it go until it turns into a much worse problem or goes away - my guess is it will just get worse if I don't address the issue now.
