Question Oxygen Sensor replacement

Hi Experts,

The Check Engine light came on in my 2004 honda CRV and the dealer inspected it and said the Oxygen sensor need to be replaced. It will cost around 500 USD as per their estimate.

Now I am planning to get it replaced out side of the dealers. Anybody done this earlier and could you please tell me how much it costs.

Should I buy the part and do it somewhere the labor? How can I check which part to be replaced.

I have already burnt my hands with these dealers so don't want to go to the dealers.

Look at only Denso O2 sensors. Bosch doesn't work well with Hondas. You'll have to search around for the best price. Doing it yourself or having a shop do it is your call depending on how mechanically inclined you are.

You're already assuming way too much. You don't know which one they THINK is bad.

Tell us the CODE they wrote on your work order after they read and reset the CHECK ENGINE light.

You paid for the code.

While you're looking for your paperwork, you could type 'replace oxygen sensor' into the search engine and look through a few of the existing threads to see what OBDII code to expect on your work order...

How many miles are on it? When did your warranty expire? Have you tried calling Honda Corporate and opening a claim?

At first, I thought that maybe OP is not in the US

But, then I remembered that they don't call it oxygen sensor, but Lambda, (I think) in the UK.

OP needs to clarify where he/she is in the world.

Default Checked the Code in AutoZone today

Hello Experts,

Since I lost my Honda work estimate sheet(I should have been more careful), I did a check at AutoZone and the codes it read was p0134 and P0135. The good Employee at autozone said I need to replace the "Air Charge Temp Sensor" and it would cost 32.00 USD. Since I don't have the expertise to replace it he advised me to go to one local shop with the part and they would get it done for 20.00 USD.

He said if both the codes (P0134 and P0135 together comes, then it should be the problem with the "Air Charge Temp Sensor".

My vehicle is Honda CRV-2004 with 76K miles on it. Could you please comment on it
