Roof Rails

Hello Peeps

Im looking at getting some roof rails not roof racks !. as i thinkit finishes the roof off nicley,

Has any one got these. Click the pic for direct link.



BUT ....

Did these ever come on the CRV MK2/ MK2.5 as a honda accessory

If i got these will i still be able to use a roof rack, if so what one?

What is the functionality of these rails, are they just cosmetic or ?????

I have the OEM roof rack, or as you called it "rails".

It is just two pieces of aluminum that run across the roof in the front and the rear. I have used them once to bring two large replacement windows from Lowes.

They are also available from the market place on here.

there is a difference between a roof rack and roof rails. so what one did you have

that rail looks mostly cosmetic - although it could be made functional with some aftermarket bars from Yakima or Thule... but it would largely depend on the ruggedness of those rails. The oem rack is functional as are the yakima and thule racks which fit to the same mounts as the oem. the yakima and thule also allow simple and complete removal of the bars with the mounting feet remaining in place.

With the Gen 1 models, rails were on the car in the UK, and you could just buy the bars to attach to the rails, and had flexibility where you positioned them.

0n Gen 2 models the bar mounting points are fixed, If you intsall these rails, you will at least have flexibility in where you mount the bars, that is assuming you want to carry gear on the roof, and the rails are up to it.

I do like the look of these rails imo, but am not sure on how high subsequent roof boxes/baskets etc would be with cross bars mounted on top of them. From a cosmetic point of view they look nice though.

Based on that pic, at least with those particular rails, you won't have much flexibility on where you mount the bars. Those rails are short!
