Default Honda CRV 2005 Headlight on warning

Maybe this is a common problem, but I've looked in the owner's manual and can find nothing to help me. If my headlights are accidentally left on after I turn the ignition off, I can usually hear a warning buzzer. Now the buzzer has stopped its warning sound and I sometimes leave my lights on which is a problem for me because the battery runs down.

Any help with this appreciated.

Usually found to be the driver's door switch has fallen apart or wire fell off inside. Does the interior light still work when it should for all doors ?

other option is that the dash warning buzzer has failed.

It is the same "buzzer" (more like a piezo speaker) in the cluster for all other sounds, such as Seat belt, start up.... ect.

As to OP, 3 conditions have to occur for the warning to come on.

1) Headlights are on
2) door is open
3) key is out of ignition.

Like Curly said, if the dome light does not come on when you open the door, then the switch most likely has failed.

Yeah this is more than likely the drivers side door switch. It is a single screw to remvoe it, happened on mine.

Easy fix though. Replace if fully damaged, otherwise, mine was fixed by applying pressure to the base and pushing up on the back of the stalk until the stalk snapped back into place. Apparently the stalk needs to be in perfect contact with the base, if it isn't then it won't complete the circuit.

This is commonly caused by slamming the seatbelt in the door (how mine happened).

Default Same Problem

I have the same problem with my 02. The cabin light does come on so it must be a bad buzzer or piezo. Does anyone know the name or number of the part?

Thanks.

The "buzzer" (more like a speaker) is in the cluster, it is the same as for the set belt and other warning signals.

The Shop manual has procedure on how to test the cluster, and I believe I have typed i tup and posted on here sometime in 2006. Maybe search will find it, or someone will re-type it for you.

P.S. For the warning to come on, you have to have the lights circuit on, key out of ignition and driver's door open. See if you can get it to work by applying the 3 conditions.
