Red face timing belt
I have a 2009 CR-V- just got it 1 month ago-
Neat Car-
I read somewhere that some of Honda's engines have
timing chains?-
and the interval for change on timing belts is 60-90K miles-
I have not been able to see if my car has a chain-
anyone up on this one?

No timing belts on the 2002 and later CR-Vs, they use timing chains.

G1 CR-V with the B20 has a timing belt.

G2 and G3 CR-Vs with the K24 have chains which do not need to be changed...

Default timing belts
Hello-
Oh Great-
now how do I tell if I have a G1 CRV or a G2 or G3 CRV-?
I was real happy- figuring I had a Chain-
now this?
Oh well- I do have some time-
only 800 miles on it-

What year is your CR-V?

1997-2001 - 1st Gen(eration) - B series engine with timing belt
2002-2006 - 2nd Gen - K series engine with timing chain
2007+ - 3rd Gen - K series engine with timing chain

1997-1998 - G1
1999-2001 - G1.5

2002-2004 - G2
2005-2006 - G2.5

2007-2009 - G3
2010+ - (Not yet released of course) G3.5

To make things even more confusing, Asian and European models sometimes have different engines from those in North America. Europe gets the diesel, I'm not sure about the Asian models.

europe and asia get 3 options:

2.0L gas
2.4L gas (ours)
2.2L diesel
