Default VSA light on, and stuck in Park!

I love my 2007 CR-V EX-L (AWD) ... I really do. She's making me nervous about her long-term reliability, though.

First, I'm in the original rear-differential group, and while I've managed to get them to flush and fill the rear, they haven't replaced the clutch pack, yet.

New issue: A few days ago, my VSA (Vehicle Stability Assistance) light came on, along with the triangle-exclamation symbol light. Having read the manual, I knew the first thing to do, was to safely come to a stop, and stop/restart the engine, to reset the system. All was dandy, as the light didn't come back on, after restarting.

I called the dealership, and they said if it starts doing it on a regular basis, then to bring it in.

Two days later, it happened again. This time though, after I restarted it, I couldn't get the transmission out of park. Somewhere in my moment of "what in the H3ll? antics", I did something that managed to release the transmission lock. I carefully drove her home, and made an appointment with the dealer for today.

Taking her to the dealership today, I had to get gas, so of course, a) the VSA light came on, before I even left the neighborhood, and b) she got stuck in park again, when I tried to leave the gas station. It was during this particular lock up, that I realized it was some specific action with the brake pedal, that was releasing the lock on the transmission.

The dealership has called back, to state the VSA and transmission issue are related, as the brake-pedal position sensor that had gone bad, and it affects both systems. They're keeping her until it's fixed - which should be tomorrow, when they get the part in.

Just thought y'all might want to know, in case this becomes a more wide-spread problem.

Nope. She has about 15.5k miles on her, and (thankfully) has not been through any hard braking situations.

random failure then. It does happen to mechanical and electrical components once in a while.

That is unless you do a lot of stop & go driving?

Hmmm, weird!

Sorry to hear about your problems though!!! This is the first I have ever heard of it on this forum....

I honestly wouldn't worry about long term reliability though, Hondas are rock solid and that differential issue was so uncharacteristic of Honda I wouldn't think twice!

My ride into work is 18 miles each way, with only two traffic lights involved. I'm also lucky to be going in the direction opposite most everyone else, so I don't have the stop and go traffic that most people encounter.

I'll chalk it up to a random failure.

Now, if only I can get my baby back from the shop. The replacement part didn't come in today, so I'll be driving my wife's 2008 CR-V into work again (Awwww...).

Default VSA light is still an issue...

I picked up my CR-V this morning, with promises that all was now well with her. I believed the service rep, until I was halfway to work, and the VSA light came on again.

When I called back the dealership, the service rep was shocked that the light came on again. He said, at this point, he hadn't a clue what it could be, and apologized profusely, for not having it fixed.

So, she's going back in tomorrow, and they're going to give me a loaner vehicle, to get me through Christmas.

Weird

Are there any other dealers in your area?

There's a couple of others that are another 10-15 miles beyond where I'm going now. If they can't figure out what's going on, I may see what another dealership can do (though my experience has been, that once one dealership has touched it, they want that dealership to resolve it).

I've found on other Honda message boards (Civic, Ridgeline, etc) a couple of other people experiencing this problem. Their resolution involved replacement of some sort of yaw switch/sensor, located somewhere in the steering wheel/column area.

I'll keep y'all posted, with what's going on.
