Default Front passenger seat roomy & comfortable on long trips?

My wife has back and hip problems, so we select a vehicle based on ability to move legs around, back support and upright seating position. Would appreciate any opinions on the comfort and roominess of the CR-V front passenger seat on long trips. thanks

I'm sorry to say, it's not the greatest.

I think it depends how tall you are. I'm 6'4" and I don't find the passenger seat that comfortable just because there's not quite as much room for my size 13 feet over there My girlfriend on the other hand doesn't have any problem at all. The only real way to tell is to take it for a test drive I guess.

Front seats, IMHO, can be improved. It is much better than those found in 1997-2001 CR-Vs but just marginally so.

I have chronic low back problems, but the seat in my 04-EX was comfortable after I adjusted it to fit my body. I'm 5'11" tall and weigh about 185 lbs. The best adjustment for me is for the seat to be as low as it will go and fairly close to the steering wheel. Then it is fine on my back. The first time I drove the CR-V on a long trip, I took along several small pillows of varying sizes to try out for lumbar support since the V seats have no lumbar adjustment. To my surprise, the seats were fine for my back without any extra lumbar support. The cruise control helps also, by allowing the driver to move around a little. My wife has also been comfortable in the passenger seat.
The back seats are another story. Back seat passengers have been more comfortable with the seats tilted slightly back rather than straight up. Unfortunately, that adjustment is not an obvious one since the lever is on top of the seat back.

I recently took my 2nd gen V on a 5 hour road trip and found the lower back support to be a little lacking. apart from that the comfort level was fine.

1997-201 has more leg room. especially the passanger as well, as Bing said. Take a look at the pass'r side and how the glove box was lowered it has taken some leg room away . they had added a shelf . I find the older version had a better fit.
the drivers side well took up to an inch away.. if your wife is going to make a long trip and do not mind putting her in the back seat then that is another story. TOO TOOOOO much room

Well, I have a '04 V and also have back problems. I've had 1 back surgery, and will have my second surgery on May 21st. I'm 5'11" and 215lbs. The V is the ONLY vehicle that I can ride in and be totally comfortable. Any car is too low for me, and any full size is too hard to get in and out of. The V fits me well and is quite cofortable for me. I gaurantee it will be the ONLY vehicle that will bring me home from the hospital. I love it. JMO

I'm 6'1", I find the CRV's front seat and legroom adequate. We took a 1400 mile trip a few weeks ago without issue. I'd love another inch or 2 in leg room and a wider arm rest, but I can live with the CRV. 2 weeks ago we picked up our Pilot and did a 500 mile road trip, while the leg room is the same there is much more hip room. My knee doesn't rest against the center console like it does in the CRV. The Pilot's front seat is fantastic. If I'm driving, I'll be taking the Pilot. If my wife's driving, she'd rather take the CRV.
