Just don't put any protectant on the bumpers if you're thinking about painting them.

Avoid anything with silicone in it on the bumpers if you intend to paint 'em. Most modern preservative silicone CAN be removed, but failing to do so may cause "fish-eyes" in the paint. A Paint shop (which I would recommend) knows this and will prepare the bumper correctly. Remember, you're buying used so no telling what the previous owner may have used.

Good explanantion of this can be found here:

Canada had painted bumpers for all the model years.

2005-2006 bumpers won't fit 2002-2004 CR-V's.

You choices are to get your painted or find painted ones off 2002-2004 CR-V from Canada.

if you're getting it from a dealer you might want to look into having them do it before you pick up the car. it would suck to pick up your car and then have it stuck in a body shop for a few days and not be able to drive it.

I have been looking on the internet for canadian bumpers, but can't seem to find any. I just don't know where to look.

I'd get it painted before I picked it up, but after all the $ I forked over to get it, I'm gonna have to wait a couple weeks to build up my bank before I can send it back in.

One of the benefits of taking your vehicle in with the bumpers to have them painted and installed is paint matching.

They can paint the bumpers using the color paint color code, but because your CR-V isn't a new vehicle, the paint has probably faded. You may not have noticed that it's faded, but when you put the newly painted bumpers on the car you _will_ notice.

Have them color matched.
