Default 2nd gen valve adjustment

I've been reading that it's imperative that the valve are adjusted every 30k on 1st gen cr-vs. I own a '02 that has 49k on it and never has had a valve adjustment. The manual states that it doesn't need and adjustment until over 100k. Is this true?

The 2002-2006 CR-V (in the US) had a completely different engine.

It doesn't seem to have the valve tightening problem that the 1st Gen CR-V engine had.
