Default CR-V Audio System

So I jsut picked up my CR-V EX AWD and on my way home I noticed that my driver's side tweeter is blown. Regardless, I think the audio system is a joke. I really enjoy listening to music while driving and would like to have a better quality audio system in the vehicle.
What are the alternatives? Do you think, replacing the factory speakers to something of a better quality aftermarket will do the trick?
Has anyone done any upgrades to their audio system yet?

It depends on how much money you want to spend, and how picky you are about the sound quality and volume.

I found in my 1999 CR-V that just replacing the speakers made a big difference to me, but in my 2006 CR-V I am fine with the original speakers it came with.

I usually start at crutchfield.com, since they have a nice 'what fits my car' option that will help you determine what speakers will be direct replacements, and what might fit with some modifications.

Good luck.

I am in the middle of upgrading my 2012 CR-V EX AWD audio. I just finished replacing the front *and* rear door speakers with Polk Dxi 6500 component speakers. Next I will add a JL Audio Cleansweep, Boston 4-channel amp (for front/rear), a Boston 2-channel amp (bridged) and Rockford-Fosgate Sub.

The sound in my vehicle is *worse* after adding the Polk speakers. Almost no mid-bass at all. This is because the head unit has very little power and is specifically matched to drive the low power light weight factory speakers.

This is consistent with the upgrades I did to my 2010 CR-V. If you are keeping the head unit, then you really need a factory sound processor and amps to make a real diff (JL Cleansweep, JBL MS-8, or AudioControl LCQ-1 recommended for sound processor).

My opinion.

Well, I was hoping that replacing 6 speakers alone will do the trick.
When I say will do the trick, I mean I will get decent sound quality, nothing exceptional.
According to Jepalan, this alone won't do.

Quality of sound is VERY personal.

If you're not happy with the sound in your vehicle, start with changing the speakers.
If you're still not happy, then look at upgrading the headunit and adding an amp.

I totally agree with Racoon - change the speakers first, but make sure once you commit to changing the speakers, that you are *willing/able* to go the extra mile if you aren't satisfied with changing speakers alone - I bet you won't be. The easiest route is to change speakers first, then change the head unit if not happy.
