Default Rattle from rear of 2008 Honda CR-V

I have an annoying rattle coming from the rear of my 2008 Honda EX CR-V. I have taken to dealer 2 separate times and they can not seem to find or fix the issue. The rattle seems to mostly be when the car is first running or when the outside temp is below say 80 or 85.
When the car is first started or the temp is below 80 or 85, the rattle is nearly constant. The rattle is there even when driving down a smooth highway at any speed. I have noticed the rattle when the car is first put into reverse and barely even moving backward....when driving on a highway at 50, 60 or 70mph and curving right is the worst.....The dealer has taken off rear inside door panel and tried to find it, but they can't.....at a loss for my annoying rattle in my beloved 2008 Honda EX Cr-V.

Have you checked all the storage and cubby holes for loose items?

If you notice it when first backing up slowly have someone else slowly backup while you stand outside and see if you can locate where it's coming from (maybe a loose/disconnected muffler hanger?).

Default rattle from rear of 2008 Honda EX CR-V

The rattle is coming from the inside. I have checked the spare tire area and all the cubby holes for lose objects.

The dealer and I both think it is coming from inside the rear lift door, but they are unabale to pinpoint its location.

I read on the threads about the rear glass, the rear-center seat belt and maybe even the rear license plate being the culprit, but I have had someone in the backseat to check those things and it does not seem to that either.

The rattle is near a contant level with outside temp. below 85. The rattle happens more when car first started in the morning...although, I have noticed it in the afternoon as well, but it is not as frequent then.

Outside temp. seems to be the only thing that effects the rattle at this point, so I am not sure what that means.

My guess is something metal that expands in the heat and the rattle stops for the most part, but no one can locate what that is.

Very frustrating.

How handy are you? It might be time to check the torque on fasters to see if one is slighly loose...

I am not very handy to be honest.
I will mention what you said to my dealership the next time I take the cr-v in again.

Thanks for the suggestion.

A thought: Check the license plate.

I have checked the license plate and it is on very tight. I still think the rattle is coming from somewhere inside the rear door.

I also checked the rear, ceiling mounted seat belt and that is not the culprit either.

I still need to see if it may be the rear glass that someone mentioned earlier.

But I am still 99% sure that it is coming from inside the rear door.

You still may want to look at the license plate "holder". If there are no little rubber feet behind it, at speed it can vibrate and make a noise. One of the test cars we drove didn't have some of these "feet" and made a noise.
Noises can be very frustrating!!!

Mine was also missing the little rubber stops and it rattled all the time. I finally took the dealer plate holder off and put some rubber feet under the plate. It stoped the rattling. My bolts were tight too, but the bottom of the plate has no bolts.

My license plate does not have a holder. I have just the license plate only. We are not allowed to have any license plate frames or holders in Texas. The plate is bolted directly to the car, but I will buy some rubber things to place on the back of the plate and see if that helps.

That is one of the things I have thought about actually, but when I tightened the 2 bolts holding on the license plate, I figured that that could not be the problem, but I will try anything at this point.

I wonder if the temperature would affect a license plate rattle since the rattle I have is more prevelant during the first 15 or 20 minutes of driving and the car warming up and my rattle is more prevelant when the outside temperature is under 80 or 85.......I still hear the rattle when the outside temperature is above 80 or 85, but it is not as bad when the outside temperature is over 85.

I am just at my whits end to be honest.

In the shop twice and they have tried 4 different things at the dealership. They are really of no help whatsoever and they are just adding to my pain!
