    Default stuck in park

Hello All! Happy New Year. My 1997 CR-v is stuck in park. I tried moving the steering wheel , foot on the brake, turning the key, pushing the car, pulling really hard on the shifter. What can I do to check out this problem? I also have a bad vibration through the steering wheel from 40mph to 70mph. I need all the help I can get. Thanks.

there should be a slot that you can slide the key into that will release the shifter... look in your owners manual to see where it is located - should be close to the shifter.

Thanks for the info. When I put the key in the slot,it goes from park to neutral fairly well. I start the motor, when I go to bump it into drive, it feels really stiff. But it works for now. What do you think it can be ? By the way I live in Kirtland Ohio. Happy New Year

check your brake lights. not sure about Honda but my Taurus canceled the shifter when at least 2 brake bulbs had burned out.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago with my 98.

The shifter cable was binding and needed to be replaced.

Check out this link for more info.

This happened to me last year, it turned out the brake-light fuse went so if the brake-light switch isn't working it's not coming out of Park. I don't think this is the case for you though, if it were it would get stuck every time you went into Park (until you resolved the brake light issue) and it wouldn't be stiff once you come out of Park.

I checked the brake lights and they are NOT working. I checked the fuse box under the steering column and in the engine compartment.I could not find the brake light fuse. Where is this located? Thanks.

It's in the fuse box under the hood, #9 "Horn, Stop Light", you''ll also notice no Horn working.
