Thread: Changing Transmission Fluid? Is There A Filter?

Default Changing Transmission Fluid? Is There A Filter?

I can't seem to locate the filter. I've also heard the proper way to change the fluid, is to fill it three times. Is this true? If so how may quarts to fill it up each time? Advance auto said you can use CASTROL transmission fluid. The draining and refilling is easy. I just can't find the filter. Thanks.

Please SEARCH 'transmission fluid filter'. 120 threads await you.

Nope, you shouldn't use Castrol, and you can't get to the filter. It's internal.

This stuff is in your owner's manual as well. I would buy 10 or 11 litres for three drain-n-fills.

I was going to answer the author, but was doing an audit of the threads and I agree with your number in the quote above.

Castrol >>> not in my Honda!

Honda ATF-Z1 >>> the right stuff.

You buy Honda ATF-Z1 fluid at a Honda dealer.

It will even be more painful if you use something else. Come on over tomorrow. I have plenty of the genuine stuff in my garage. I'll do the job for you.

Get Advance Auto to guarantee, in writing, that they will replace your transmission when it fails. Then, buy their fluid.
