Default Driver door lock actuator not working

The lock on the driver's door of my 2004 CRV is not working when using the remote, so I need to use the key to manually lock the car. All other locks respond to the remote, but this one is stuck open. I removed the door panel and sprayed some nut looser where the white plastic lock parts are, with no results. Need urgent help on how to remove that plastic lock parts to clean and check the actuator.

Hope this helps. I know there were some posts by Racoon about replacing parts in there.

Are you out of warranty already?

It sounds like somebody locked your Honda without reading the OWNER'S MANUAL, and they forced the lock button DOWN without holding the the outer handle OUT.

The actuator may not be at fault. Do you hear it try to operate? You might even want to SEARCH the archives to find more instructions about how to remove (and replace) the actuator or the latch. The part that sometimes breaks is the LATCH, labeled #2. In the diagram that Skyout has provided, the screw #33 is the key to removing the LATCH, but there's about six other connections you have to disconnect, and you have to be careful to mark them, or draw a sketch of how they were ADJUSTED before you start yanking them apart. You probably have to undo the bolt that holds the bottom end of the window track as well (at least you do on a gen 1).

Let us know if you find it.

    Default Actuator is broken!!

Hey guys, thank your for your hints, especially the schematic .
It took a cople hours, but finally could remove the lock assembly. These big hands didn't help!!. I had to use a dentist mirror to look the lock from behind and remove a wire fastener. That was tricky. Finally I removed and tested the lock actuator and it is not working. I will call tomorrow to the local Honda dealer, hope they have the actuator in stock

I partially re-assembled the lock so the outer door handle works to open the door... I will let you know how it ends.

By the way, my warranty just passed away a couple weeks ago. I suspect this cars have self-destroy-timing-devices built-in.

If you go to the link I posted above it will give you a price minus shipping.

Also, let the service rep know how many Honda's (cars, mowers, etc) you've owned. Mention you think that the part shouldn't have failed this early and ask if there is anything he can do for you. Do this all in a calm tone mentioning how you just passed out of warranty. Honda Corp (and some Honda dealers) value there customers and will sometimes help you out, especially just out of warranty.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Default Honda CRV 2001 Driver side Door lock making noise

Hi guys, I am also having problem with my 2001 crv driver side door lock. It is still working but it makes a chrrippp noise when closed and is ok when opened. I opened the door panel to see what's going on. I observed that the plastic cover was teared off which indicates it might be an old problem(I am not the original owner). It was difficult to access the Latch, so I closed it after disconnecting the connector to the actuator. I want to make sure whats causing this chripppp noise before I open it again. Is it the Actuator or the latch(mechanical assembly) is causing it. Now, since I use the key to open and close the door and I do not feel that I exert any extra force while twisting the key to close the door which probably indicate, no jamming in the latch but may be I am wrong. Please I need your expert advice as soon as possible. Thanks

Welcome to the club, guys. My driver door lock actuator has been working intermittently since I bought the car almost two years ago.

I had to replace the actuator on my front passenger side door because it pretty much stopped working at all.

    Search is your friend.

Default 2001 CRV Driver side Power door lock making Noise

Thanks for the welcome, My door lock works all the time but makes noise while closing. It just started a week ago and is very annoying noise. I want to make sure before I buy the part that this is the one causing problem because these parts are not returnable. I called the Honda dealer to check the price of the actuator and they wanted to make sure that I get the right part because its not returnable, so we don't have lexury of hit and trial in this case. Honda dealer quoted me $131.25+tax and thats to much because the online store "HondaPartsDeals.com" is selling the same OEM part for $88.05 (I hope that is OEM). So, I need some insight from some experienced memmber to my problem. I Thanks
