I have just over 73,000 miles on my 1999 CR-V EX 5 speed manual transmission. I've never had any work done on my brakes.
During the 60,000 mile inspection 18 months ago the service person noted that 25% of the front pads remained, and 50% of the rear shoes. I'm planning on having the brakes done the next time it's in for service, including a brake and clutch fluid change, and probably a coolant change, too.
The brakes on a CR-V with an automatic transmission probably wouldn't last as long. I use the engine and gears to slow the CR-V when I can, and only use the brakes when necessary.
