For all you owners of '05 Pilots, if you haven't already been contacted by your local dealer regarding a recall, you may be soon.

I got a call yesterday from my local dealer regarding a steering-related issue. He said two parts in the system may not be fastened together properly and they needed to inspect it immediately. They wouldn't even let me drive it to the dealership; they arranged to have a flat-bed truck haul it away and got me a rental car. It may not need any work at all if the inspection reveals no problem.

I'll post a follow-up when I get it back, hopefully today.

Component: STEERING:COLUMN
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 203
Summary:
ON CERTAIN MINIVANS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE STEERING COLUMN MAY BE INCORRECTLY ASSEMBLED, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL.
Consequence:
LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL CAN CAUSE A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE.
Remedy:
OWNERS WERE NOTIFIED BY TELEPHONE ON JANUARY 25, 2005, AND ARRANGEMENTS WERE MADE TO HAVE THEIR VEHICLES TOWED TO THEIR DEALERS AND HAVE THE REPAIRS PERFORMED. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 25, 2005.

The steering joint was OK, no work needed.

Thanks a bunch for imforming the forum about the recall. Time to call the dealer.
