What will be done to the automatic?
Wow, custom work = $$$$$$$$$$$4
How did you find a fabricator for the headers? How much pressure are you planning to run?
Man, that thing is gonna be fast!

Does the turbo always need intercooller ? or just optional ?
what is the advatange of intercooler ? make the turbo cool or make the engine cool ?

Adr889,
As I understand it, intercoolers are optional. Intercoolers are heat exchangers, which cool the compressed air; the process of compressing the incoming air greatly increases its temperature. A cooler and thus denser intake of air will increase the horsepower an engine can develop
Nice custom install k24 rd6!

Once again, very nice work K24! I particularly like the header fabrication. Looks really good. Nice thick flange. Excellent workmanship. Did you do the fab work yourself?

Wow.. Nice job... what are the plans for the front bumper? looks like you'll have to do some reworking there as well to fit the pipes for the intercooler!?!?

Did you consider a Top Mounted Intercooler (like the WRX?). I've been thinking Turbo, but I want to get a motorcycle first.. after that we're back to the V. I've started working on a next generation vented hood and was thinking that a TMI might be a good option then. Did you explore that option? space issues?

I actually cut the bumper yesterday for the intercooler. The pipes come out just a little too far under the headlight. I just need to cut a little of ths sheet metal out to move the top of the intercooler back. This was my plan originally but my fabricator thought otherwise. Both pipes with have to be modified
Top mount was not a consideration. Nice for plumbing, but looks too cluttered for me

I guess you've been busy with the wiring. Where exactly did you place the battery? I saw the "relocated battery" pic, but I can't figure out much from it.
Turbo looks good too. Any possibility of lag from the length of the header, or would the size of the turbo make that negligable?
Keep posting pics; its like a story of what most of us would try if we had the money to do it. :D
k24 rd6
03-16-2005, 03:15 AM
The battery is in the jack compartment in the right rear corner.
I am sure the length will contribute to a little more lag, but it should spool up quickly.

How much pressure are you running? The intercooler looks real good behind that bumper!

Lovin it. Have you been able to drive it yet? Are you using a loud BOV or would that not work well with an automatic?
:D Wow very nice job, nice paint too. Why did you go for a turbo and not a supercharger? 8)

Once again...nice work k24! That intercooler is in a pretty vulnerable location. You might want to consider some ss wire mesh (http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/ProductSelection.asp?Product=3641) to protect those delicate fins.

I am running 4 lbs right now. It is on a rough street tune. When I get it on the dyno, I will map it out for more boost. I still need to chage from the 4 bar greddy map to a 2 bar map before I go to the dyno.
I am going to use a Tial Bov. It will work the same on an auto. Just on an auto there is no need to let off the throttle for shifts. When you get off the throttle it will be needed.
It goes into booost with very little load. Almost impossible to get on the freeway without going into boost.
