Just a question. I was able to buy 16" take-offs from a dealer for my snow tires. They did not come with the center caps as they needed them for LX the take-offs came from.

Other being decorative, is there a problem if I don't use center caps in the winter?

Thanks

Cosmetic, but I still finish them off so snow does not get to the hub threads.

Thanks. I am just concerned about water and dirt causing problems by getting into the hub threads. I probably will get them. Just need to find them cheap.

Ever notice all those cars with ugly black steel winter rims? None of them have center caps.

+1 Your doing it right with an extra set of wheels and snow tires might as well finish it off right with the center caps. I think handa has them for about $26 for the set.

I'll probably get the caps since I was able to get take-offs from a 2012 CR-V LX model. If they were just the plain black ones I probably wouldn't but since these are the painted steel ones I would since it looks a lot better.

Thanks!!

Thanks. They don't seem to have any 2012 CR-V ones though.

Went to the dealership and they quoted me $33/cap!!!

I thought they were cheaper than that, but when I checked for a 2006 they were a similar price.

are these steel or alloy take-offs? from a 2012 or earlier model? pictures would help!

They are 16" steel take-offs from a 2012 LX model. I wouldn't use alloys for my snow tires, way too expensive.

The part number I got from the dealer for the caps is: 44722-S9A-000

I did a search on that part number and didn't find anything.

These are the part numbers hondapartscheap.com is showing:

44732-S9A-000 CAP, WHEEL CENTER (steel wheel center cap)
44732-S9A-A00 CAP, ALUMINUM WHEEL CENTER (alloy wheel center cap)

EDIT: the list price for the steel wheel center caps is $37.75 each. The online price is $26.42 each + shipping. I'd buy them online.

:D

roadster has a good point, that ordering online you may have to pay other fees, like shipping, handling, etc.

If the difference between the list and online prices were very small it's usually cheaper to buy it from your local dealer.

But since we're talking about you need four center caps with an online price that's $11.33 less than the list price, you'll save $45.32 on the cost of the four center caps by ordering them online...less the cost of shipping and handling, of course.

:)

Thanks for the added info. Going to have to cost it all out, but probably going to be cheaper. Only hitch is I am in Canada and could get dinged with duties.

Just a thought, Hankman, but have you investigated if in fact you have to buy 2012 model center caps?

Older model parts may be cheaper and easier to get.

I have a G3. Bought G3 steel wheels without center caps and am now using G2 caps. No problem.

Shipping from the U.S to Canada very often is a pain. Many companies won't even do it.

Majestic Honda I love, due to being hte closest for online parts, Possably bernardi honda in Natik Mass is closer for you? They were my preferred place to shipping trippled?

Back when Acura was part of Honda, I needed a lock clynder, online 30.00 instore 100 plus ever since , then all my parts were online think I am going back to the late 90 or early. back on dial up Lol 33k

so keep an eye out at local tire shops they may have a sweet deal on caps.

just a thought, go to an electical store see ifthey make caps that close up holes that diameter for fuse panals. they sure do?

take your steel wheel down to your local salvage yard and see if any Honda steel wheel center cap will fit... they all look very much alike - chrome steel, about an inch deep - not sure on what the diameter is. I wouldn't be suprised if a honda steel wheel cap off any Honda within the last 10 years (maybe older) is the same size.

So here are pics of the 16" steel take-offs from a 2012 CR-V LX i bought from a dealer. They are going to have snows mounted on them, they are currently still mounted on rims from my Highlander. The 16" take-offs will be used on my 2012 CR-V EX in the winter time.

It looks like the center caps will be 2 1/2" in diameter according to my measuring tape.

Anyone have any center caps they are looking to sell that would work? I guess they wouldn't be the flush ones but the ones that extend out a bit.

Thanks

There are no part numbers on the caps I have on my 06 and 07 steel wheels but your measurement is same as the gen2 and gen3 steel wheels -
check these - http://www.centercaps.net/caps/details.php?stockNumber=1657

I think they measure by the OD of the cap, not the OD of the mounting ring.

these are also the same size -
http://www.centercaps.net/caps/details.php?stockNumber=882
http://www.centercaps.net/caps/details.php?stockNumber=877

your best bet is to hit the salvage yards... they've been using these since the '70's, apparently on the 15" and larger steel wheels across all models it appears by the descriptions.

According to hondapartscheap.com, the 2012 CR-V steel wheel center caps (44732-S9A-000) were used on the following years of CR-Vs:

2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012

So you should be able to get some from a junk yard/auto dismantler.
