This is a really great site for HRV's. I just had to join and now ive posted some pics of my HRV to see what you think. Ive had it nearly a year now and it has been the most reliable and enjoyable car i have owned so far. There are more pics in my gallery if you like what you see. http://www.hondasuv.com/main2/album_personal.php?user_id=34496

Thanks Yes its a honda supplied kit called the rogue sport kit. They also do one called the body sports kit. I got it from ryland honda and it was about £700 in total. That looks like a mighty sound system you've got in your HRV :D

Cool, very cool, I like it! Your wheels are nice, what size metal and rubber please.

Where-abouts are you in the UK? (No I am not coming round to steal your wheels!)

Cheers, they are 18" with 235x50x18 tyres which were too big for the front and required the weather shield to be trimmed. I previously had 225x40x18 which fitted perfectly with no modding required and no rubbing but unfortunatly the profile was too low and the rims kept dinting over pot holes which would cause the spinner to jam on the rim and scratch it. When the fronts wear i will try 225x50x18 and replace the weather shield and see if they still rub. Im in Manchester by the way

Oh yes of course, Manchester, I can see now it's raining!

What MPH per 1000 rpm do you get in 5th with that set-up?

jonajise
09-30-2004, 09:57 AM
Ha ha! yes indeed as always. Im not sure what mph per x1000 rpm i get I will try it when i go out later and post the result

thank you,it forever changeing tho lol,i think i mite inquire about the kit from my local honda (fleet, surrey),the alloys r great,i can only find fox alloy wheels who make alloys for the hr-v in england, although 'they say' u can fit 19" but with a low profile :D but im really after some chrome wheels

I bought mine from Dave Sheldon tyres in Manchester. Its the second set of 18's I have had for the HR-V. The 1st set were BK racing in smoked chrome. They were a multi stud fit (10 holes on the wheel even tho you only use five) I sold them to my mate who says he is going to put them on his new Zafira when he gets it. Yeah chrome would look sexy on a black HR-V and when I bought my spinners i was looking at the wheel in chrome but the chap at shop said the chrome finsh didnt come with a gaurantee as our british winters with the salt and grit was considered to harsh for them. I was also advised to unbolt the spinner attatchment on my alloys as the same conditions may damage the bearings in the spinner  The guy did say the bk racing wheel would come with a gaurantee in chrome as the finish and chrome plating was of a higher quality on this wheel and i also have to say that this wheel with the lower profile tyre didnt dint over pot holes like my spinner alloys with the same tyre fitment did.

lookin good 8) is that a backbox or an exhuast tip?

jonajise
02-22-2005, 12:15 AM
Its a back box. I got it from jp exhausts in macclesfield. They are made to measure. You can choose what pipes you want oval, big round, twin etc and even the way it sounds. It cost £223 pounds and is made from stainless steel. I chose for it to sound sportyish so it doesnt deafen me on the motorway.

What do you mean 'weather shield'? Do you mean the trimming on the inside of the tyre well?

jonajise

yes the profile was to high and wide so on full lock it rubbed on the plastic trim.

these are called "fender liners" IIRC.

jonajise
02-23-2005, 05:17 AM
Ah well when the tyres are worn i will replace the fender liner as the british winters (nearly all year round!) probably wont do the exposed area any good.

Other changes include mk2 headlamps for the clear indicators. The annoying thing was the front bumper had to be removed to enable the removal of the old headlamp and the fitting of the new. Sports corner bumpers are now colour code and fitted with the adapted rogue sport whell arch kit. Wing mirror indicators removed after their failure.

i think u should use 225/45/18 or 245/45 :)
check my v in the crv gallery :)

But they did fit without any ajustments? or did you have to change anything to make them fit? your car looks great with the bumpers in color

No the headlamps from the mk2 require no adjustment to fit. They will go straight in.

Yeah i will check your gallery to see your ride and wot tyres r fitted :D

Well ive just ordered a set of TSW kyalami wheels that are 7.5 x 20". Tyres are either going to be 225 x 35 x 20 or 235 x 30 20 depending on what they can source 1st for me. Ill post pics when fitted.

nice choice of wheels 8) what will you be doing with your bk racing wheels?

jonajise
09-15-2005, 09:27 AM
I'm not sure yet my brother wants to buy the hrv off me early next year and both the tsw wheels and the bk wheels are multi stud so they will fit on a new shape hyundai cuoupe which ive been thinking of buying. If i buy one then ill have to leave a set on the hrv. But it depends on whether 20's will fit on the coupe.

Its gotta be said that is one real nice V you got there............I like the leather re trim , where did you get that done and how much did it cost?????

jonajise
09-16-2005, 11:46 PM
Its funny that I found the receipt for the re trim the other day it was £790.00 from a place in Macclesfield called cutting edge.

The wheels are on and there is absolutely no rubbing. Tyre size was 225 x 30 x 20.

I like those wheels. 8)

Thanks! :D It rolls less because of the minimal flex in the tyre wall but I havent really pushed it since fitting them as im too afraid to wear the tyres as i want to make them last. I'd normally be spinning the wheels comin off roundabouts but the thought of forking out for new tyres is making me go easy on the right foot!

PatrickDorrian

Those wheels n tyres look f'kin lovely! Only question, what's the ride quality like running on 30 profile tyres, is it harsh and crashy?

That's one of the nicest Vs i've seen to date!

jonajise
09-22-2005, 03:38 AM
Cheers! Yes the ride is definately more crashy due to the low profile of the tyres(minor road defects do feel like huge pot holes!). The car is now less practical in the fact that you cant just bounce it up kerbs now and park it outside my friends houses as I could with the previous wheels I had on. On smooth roads its fine and it certainly feels less vague when cornering due to there being less flex in the tyre wall and they do look truely awesome in the flesh and it is possible to still lower it if i wished using eibach springs.

PatrickDorrian
09-22-2005, 08:15 AM
Yes that would be my prime concern, if i've still got the V when i move down to Milton Keynes, i'll look at a set of 18s max for it :)

jonajise

Well the Hrv has gone. I sold it to my brother with everything except the 20" wheels for £6000.00
I have to say that in 2years of ownership it was the most reliable car I ever owned. The only thing that failed was the rear fog lamp switch. Not bad considering all the meddling sorry modding I had done. I will miss it.

It never failed to turn heads and I am still asked by the local yoofs "Do you still have the Honda?"
I have another Honda now a XL 125 Varadero motor bike! Cheap insurance, road tax and 193 miles to a full tank which costs £12 to fill. And the 20" inch wheels? well they were a multi studd fit so i swapped the badges and popped them on the Mrs Merc SLK now that is an interesting looking car. I just need to tint the windows and then................................ :D

jonajise,
Sorry you got rid of that awesome V but at least it's still in the family. Somehow I missed this tread before but I think you just got rid of a COTM. You should have your brother join us now - have him PM bing for COTM info - then you and he can both write it up. 8)

Thanks i will do.
My brother isnt into modding as much as me but he has made a couple of additions already which are a tv tuner for the pioneer avic x1 head unit and an ipod adapter.
He is now looking into an lpg conversion to try and up the mpg.
I will also post some final pics i took of it with the 20"s which are clearer than the others i posted.
I would definately have another Harvey as the car never did anything to put me off it. (I only sold it because i was skint!)
I miss its practicality. The other day i took the slk to the car wash and while i was buying a ticket sum numty came along and plonked his car in the way so he could buy a ticket. In the Harvey I would have hunked up the kerb and drove into the car wash with a grin. If i'd have tried that in the slk i would now be looking for a front valance, sump , sills, and exhaust! So instead I had to sit there while he washed his car, wishing that the old fart would collapse and have a heart attack lol!
Next time I would try a MkII (Save me changing the headlights) vetec with 4wd and a five door to aid rear passenger space. (im getting old even my motorbike has a top box yuk!)
It will still have to be black as all the cars in my immediate family are black and my new M.bike is black and silver. :D
I like that big plastic bull bar honda do for the MkII that looks like the 1 you can get for the rav 4. I just hope it will still be available by the time my bank account is ready for it.
Oh jeez im gotta stop! This is how i ended up on a motor bike and Ive already threw half of honda's accessory catalogue at that!
