I know this subject has been beat to death cause I've looked around the forum but........I'm having a hard time believing I have to add $800 worth of coolers to my Pilot to pull the same loads I used to pull with my 98 chrysler town and country minivan. I understand the need to cover your tail when pulling a 5000 lb trailer through the desert but I live here in Wisconsin and think I should be able to pull a 2000lb trailer with the standard trans layout. I'm not a expert mechanic but there's an awful lot of cooler showing up behind the grill of the Pilot--maybe it's all engine radiator but I'll bet not. Just wondering if anyone knows of someone that pulled some light to moderate loads without the coolers and if they really had problems. I went to 2 dealers and neither would put a hitch on wiithout the coolers. I had an aftermarket hitch put on at a hitch shop--it was a drawtight and they got it on in 10-15 minutes with a perfect fit right into the original honda holes.

I too agree on that to a certain point... But the main thing is, if you ever get any transmission problems during your warranty period and Honda investigates and finds out that you are pulling something without the cooler... Well then, your warranty is voided...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I also think that most minivans out in the market already has a Tranny Cooler installed as a Standard option...

The "coolers" that you see behind the grille are your Radiators and your A/C Condensor...
