Door egde guards worth it?

I pick up my new EXL on Monday. The dealer threw in door-edge guards to clinch the deal. I posted a query on door edge guards several days ago before I had considered the crv. I read where one poster says they are ugly(i may agree) and off very little protection. If they do not offer much protection I may opt out. I try to park as far away as possible, but working in downtown area, sometimes that is not possible. Thanks for any comments!

I vote on an ugly add on and recommend taking them off.

I actually meant to say "body side molding", not the door edge guard. So does body side molding protect well for doors? Too ugly? Thanks again!

I don't think body molding adds to the looks on this vehicle, but to each his own. As for protection, it depends on where the other car's door lines up.
