Bought my CRV 2.4 Black and waiting eagerly for delivery on 2nd May. Did my bid for COE only on 18th April so my SE at Kah really did magic for me on fast delivery. Really happy with his service and will try to post a pix once I collect. If any bro needs a recommendation on a good SE mine is definitely excellent. Just PM me. BTW, I was considering a RAV4 and CRV and went for CRV and I guess too many factors eg, higher demand in the resale/export market, better instrumentation, specs, image, feel good factor etc although I heard consumption on RAV4 is the best for SUV in this category. Mazda CX7 looks too much like a oversized hatch (Sorry to all die-hard CX7 fans out there). Also I think the Turbo=Guzzler...

Realised though the CRV is a very popular car with the expats here in Singapore. During my purchase, the ratio of locals signing on the dotted line is like 4 expats to 1 local. Good car to have if you want a higher profile compared to a Camry (about the same price).

Hi Megarapier,

I got my COE too on the same date, how did you know that your delivery is on 2nd May? Where did you booked your CRV? I booked one just like yours.

Well, when I booked the car, the SE checked the tally in the stock and there was a last unit left. So I managed to book that. My SE was very informative all along the way. So that's why I know. If you booked after me and it is black, then you should be getting your shipment in June I reckon. I bought from the original distributor and not PI.

Whats an SE & COE?
Sorry forgive the Singapore Lingo. SE= Sales Engineer. COE- Certificate Of Entitlement. You need to bid for a COE,now at current month costing S$15000+ to buy a car in Singapore. The 2.4L CRV with on-demand 4WD is going for S$97,500 including COE. That's about USD65,000. I guess you can buy a Lexus/Mercedes/BMW?? in the States with that kind of money. This is one way to keep the ownership of cars in Singapore at control due to the small island space that we have. Hope this gives our friends in US a clearer pix. Cheers!

Thats messed up. So much for freedom. So in otherwords. If your not rich you can't buy it.

Well not exactly rich but you need to have at least S$1,500 (car installments including gas) in spare to burn per month to own a CRV in Singapore. Usually you need to pay 10% downpayment for the car and take 90% in loan for the car if you can't pay cash upfront. Since you need S$1,500 to burn, then you will definitely need to be in the income bracket of S$3,000 above (for Singles) and S$5,000 above (for Married) to come anywhere close to our beloved CRV. Why the calculations cos you need to pay for other expenses like housing, family etc. Hard Knock Life in Singapore.

Ha, so much for control of car population, just one excuse to collect more $$.
BTW, megarapier, what kind of deal you got from your SE? Urban kit?

Nope, My missus didn't like the urban kit cos too bulky and too many grooves/holes to clean. Opt for the Sporty as described by the Honda Japanese website. Lots of Chrome. I oso went to buy the chrome side mirror cover and exhaust tip. My SE threw in the Spoiler for me. I guess my ride will look something like this. (of course side steps, spoilers and chrome mirror cover not in yet. Waiting for the chrome scruff plates front + back.)

Finally got my ride. So far, these are some of the experience i can share. The engine is powerful and smooth like butter. As it is new in Singapore, it does turn quite a few heads when you drive around. Simply love the handling cos it is firm yet the creature compforts are all there. Will try to post the pix of my ride once I have completed fixing the add ons. Happy and glad that I chose CRV over RAV4.

The Mugen Visor you might want to check out this thread.

Not cheap though, if its only a visor. IMHO

How was the collecting car process?

Well, thats why waiting for taiwanese to copy the design. I have good contacts in Taiwan. Collection process was good. I went to Mandai/ Kah Motors to collect. My SE ran through everything together with me and we even unwrapped the plastic covers on the leather seats and other parts together. COOL!..and he ran through thoroughly on all the feature and function of the car with me. The sweet smell of a new car is always the best part. You will definitely enjoy it too. INTOXICATING..
