What are those grease stuffs on wheels(tire)? I like to wash them off using commercial wheel washing fluid cuz they attract a lot of dirt. Are they some kind of protective film put on by manufacture/dealer?

Do you mean tire dressing to make it look wet?

If it is white it is a lubricant they use to mount a tire....

No, there is no color or transparent to me. I am talking about Alloy rim not tires. When I touch the surface of rim, it feels grease, not sure where it came from.

Well it still could be tire butter, it doesn't have to be white. It might just be a lubricant of some sort, or even tire shine/gel.
I really wouldn't be worried about it :?

Are you sure it is greasy and not just slick?
The rims are painted with clear coat to prevent corrosion. If you do clean them, don't use hard brushes or chemicals that remove clear coat. You won't like it.

Could he be referring to the infamous Honda brake dust??

No clue. Brake dust isn't white though....
OP, can you explain where this substance is on the wheel??? Have washed your vehicle and does it come back?

They are on the rims not on tires and attract a lot of dirt. I tried to spray water on them and hoped to wash them off with a garden hose, but I could not since they are greasy stuff. I have bought some chemicals sold as wheel rim cleaner and will try this weekend if possible.

There are rim shine cleaner liquid sprays sold in auto store, are they safe for use? I just bought it yesterday and ready to use it at this coming weekend.

OK, is it possible that when the tires were dressed, somebody was sloppy & got tire dressing on the rims?
Check out that "wheel cleaner" that you bought & be sure that it is safe for "Clear-Coated Alloy Wheels" and follow the directions carefully or you'll have another problem on your hands :(
PS - Where are you located?? Maybe if there were a forum member nearby, they could take a look at it & help you out?

1. It is very possible someone did a really sloppy job.
2. Good suggestion. I only trust Griots Garage wheel cleaner, it is approved by BBS and Dayton.
3. I don't think this is cause for concern, noone needs to take a look. Like you said it is more than likely overspray from tire shine :)

Is it for 2007 CR-V? Your rims were probably covered in some “conservation” grease. It’s part of manufacturing/packaging/storing process.
My Honda steel wheels were also covered with some greasy stuff when I bought them new last fall. And I only washed it off this month in preparation for summer storage. I use Simple Green, and it does very good job.

I bought "Turtle Wax" wheel cleaner and I have not used it yet. It doesn't say whether it is safe for "Clear-Coated Alloy Wheels" or not, but it does say containing no acid, which brand wheel cleaner says "safe for Clear-Coated Alloy Wheels" or which wheel cleaner you have used for cleaning rims of 2007 CRV?

if it's dark colored, its most likely brake dust and road grime... i know after about 3 days of driving my wife's crv, and my civic, there's junk on both.
