We have a V - our p"first" car.
We are now in market for a second vehicle. The delimma is: whether to go for a truck or a car or another V or Element??
Any ideas/suggestions?
What do you people have as your second car (sometimes, this might become the "first" car too??)
Thanks for help,
Regards,

I think it all depends on your needs. I plan to use my V as a weekend/road trip car. The gas mileage is good, but still not as good as my 91 Accord which I use for my everyday commute. I'd love to drive my V to work everyday, but no point racking up senseless miles on it.
If you are looking for a high mileage commuting car, I'd look at something with excellent gas mileage like a Toyota Corolla. It really starts with what you see as your needs, it's tough to recommend something without knowing what your lifestyle is.

Thanks!
Our NEEDs : Actually, that's what has bugged us.
Needs:
Sometime (not very often) we need to carry BIG things and it burns my heart to see scratches on my V....our insides are so "soft".
Daily commute yes...currently I am pretty satisfied with V's mileage. But better mileage will be a plus. We commute about 25miles/day.
I have this strange urge to get a standard shift (our V is auto and driving an auto is boring, IMHO).
Wife wants a car that makes a statement - she's after the VW-Bug/miata.
So, I just wanted to survey around as to what different people have and how they satisfied their different needs.
Thanks...

If you do any home repairs/remodeling or landscaping, a truck might be good. I have a Toyota mini truck that is immensely useful and I can't imagine ever having 2 cars only. Our CRV isn't a good hauler for home stuff due to cargo area and how nice it is. :)
Pickups have gotten so emasculated lately that they ride well and get acceptable mileage. The Tacomas w/ 4 cylinders come to mind.........

i got a pilot as the 2nd. close runner up was the sequoia, but that size wasn't quite what we needed. i find the pilot and the crv to complement each other quite well, for our needs. it really depends on what you need i suppose.

Given your post on your "needs", ask your wife what she thinks of the Element. (It carries stuff, and the interior is not soft, and it makes a "statement", and you can get a manual transmission - all the things you asked for.)
