would it do any significant improvement to ride quality? what do you guys think about it?

Ride quality, as in suspension? No.

It does let more air into the engine compared to the Honda air filter, but that means it also lets more dust in, too.

so i guess it's a double edge sword...thanks racoon i guess i'll pass up on this one.

More air? The engine doesen't suck in more air in than it would normaly just by changing the filter. It only makes it easier to suck in air. Why more dust? If kept well maintained I don't see why it would leave more dust in.

Being its cleanable/reusable I consider a k&n drop in filter a nice upgrade...

Just don't expect mad power gains. ;)

There is a fairly long discussion about this in the archives.

The K&N filter allows a higher volume of air to pass through than a Honda filter by using a more porous filter. This also means that larger particles can pass through the K&N filter than can pass through a Honda filter.

Racoon's got it. The K&N drop in filter really produces little if any extra power. I cold air intake WITH a filter like a K&N will probably give you some performance gains. Free flowing filters have been know to pass larger particles and believe it or not, this can be proven by doing a UOA (used oil analysis). It shows up as higher silicon (sand) levels and that translates into engine wear. Many of the cheap filters provided with cold air intakes actually filter very little in order to elevate the performance numbers. Unless you race, I'd steer clear.
