Has anyone had trouble with getting their back hatch door to close? I have only had my car one week and I have to slam the back hatch repeatedly to get it to register as closed on the dash board system. I find this very annoying! I think I'll have to call my dealer to see if there is something wrong with it.

Looks like a trip to the Honda service departmant is in order. My tailgate closes very easy.

Sounds like a bad switch if the car is still showing that it is open, if it closes and latches there is no reason to slam the door.....

Mine closes with barely a touch. I was surprised how easily the big hatch opens and closes for me.

Right - now if you could just get the family to stop SLAMMING the darned thing! :D

Mine closes easily also. Could be the switch or minor adjustment to the latch. You should bring it into the dealer though.

Mine closes easily as well and I've never had to re-close it or have it show up as still being open.

So yeah, I'd take it in to the dealer as well! Sounds like there's a problem somewhere.

I had numerous occasions when I first got mine and had the indicator say that it wasn't shut. I had to start shutting it a bit more firmly instead of just letting it kinda fall into place. I might consider it a slam, but not a hard one.

I believe there was a thread about this a couple of weeks ago.

Just make sure that you are not trying to close the door seconds after you open it. See, when you press the button that releases the door, the mechanism that holds the door closed its open for like 3 seconds or so. You can actually hear mechanism work. If you try to close the door while the mechanism is "open" you will not be able to close the door properly.

I know this is pretty obvious but just wanted to make sure.

I've found that the tailgate needs a quite firm pressure to close, if the other doors are closed and the windows are up.

If there is another door open or the window is down a bit, the tailgate closes with a lighter touch.

Guess its a sign of a well made (sealed) car !
