View Full Version : Brake pedal travel distance
Hello all. I just got the '07 Glacier Blue CR-V EX on Saturday. One thing I noticed is the brake pedal seems to required stepping deeper and has less back pressure than I use to on a non-ABS Civic in order to make a full stop. I'm wondering if it is like that on the '07 CR-V's?
Thanks on your input.

Its hard to tell if you are experiencing bad brake pressure. Here's a test that I do.
1. While your vehicle is stopped, press all the way on your brake pedal and see how far down you can depress. You shouldn't be able to press all the way to the floor but you could go 3/4 way down or so.
2. Repreat quickly to see if the pedal holds it pressure. If you have a leaky brake system, the pedal will quickly depress and sink to the floor.
3. If your brake system is good, then you should have no problems and repeated pressing will yield the same distance.
Things that makes the pedal feel soft are leaks or air in the system. Go back to the dealer if you feel something isn't right because safety comes first!
Let us know what you find out?

Every car is different. You cannot compare brake pedal feel from one type of vehicle to another. Bing makes a good point though.
