Looked at the old messages here and did a search but couldn't find a post with the same concern. I have a 2007 LX AWD that's only been driven 4 times. I just noticed that when driving on neighborhood/city streets there is a buzzing/whirring sound that comes from the front of the CRV on only slight acceleration. I was playing music the previous times it was driven so this sound most likely was there before. Is this normal and happens with your CRV's too? If not, what could it be? Thanks!

I have LX-S AWD (1.5 weeks) - I have not detected the strange sound you mention. How loud is it? Do you have to strain to hear it?

It's not a loud noise but I didn't need to strain that much to hear it either. Was on a quiet residential street. I'll listen out for it again tomorrow and will try to gather more details like how long it lasts, at what speed etc. I hope I just have really good hearing and it is normal for the CRV. :) If I hear it again I'll call the dealership and see what they have to say. Will keep you posted.

If you're only hearing it the first time you accelerate after starting, its probably the ABS charging.

I think this is in the owner's manual under ABS.

For some Owner's Manual Humor, look at the list of questions I provided in this thread:

Thanks Curly Q Links for the ABS info. No, noticed it near the end of a trip. Didn't hear it today but will listen out this week to see if I hear it again. But now my TPMS indicator light won't go off. Will check tire pressure.

Keep in mind the K series have a timing chain, and not a belt...

Another thing to consider :)

Sorry Sleeksilver, what is this about K series having a timing chain instead of a belt? Thanks.

The K24 is the engine in your car. The K series has a timing chain instead of a belt.... Chains make a bit more noise than the belts do, you might be hearing the timing chain :)

EDIT: Sorry, forgot to explain.... K= The series of engine in your CR-V... 24 denotes 2.4 liters, which is the size of the engine in your CR-V

Here's a shot in the dark, but could you be hearing the radiator fan? It's thermostatically controlled, so you'd be more likely to hear it at the end of a trip when the car's running hotter. It definitely "whirs". I doubt it would have any relationship with acceleration, though.

One thing I've noticed about my new V, compared to other Hondas (and other cars) I've owned, is that it cycles the radiator fan more frequently and in very short cycles, sometimes running for just a couple seconds at a time. With my other cars, the "on" cycle is much longer and less frequent.

Sorry for the thread jack...

The Volvo's dead stock and still runs quite well. We're the original owners and we're going to let my 15 year-old daughter drive it when she gets her license (no way she gets to drive the CR-V). We bought it before she was born! I get the IPD catalogs, but have a local mechanic who seems to stock all the necessary parts...so far.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled "Issues and Complaints!"

I have an appointment on Tuesday at the dealership so they can see why the TPMS light won't go off. Tire pressure is ok. They're also going to look into the noise I heard. Thanks sleeksilver and DBinCa, those both sound like good explanations for the noise. Hopefully it turns out to be one of those normal reasons you both mentioned and isn't a problem. Love the CRV otherwise, thanks again!
