Is there a way for the moonroof on my '07 Honda CRV EX 2WD to automatically close whenever I turn off the ignition:?: It used to do that on my old '03 Honda CRV LX 2WD. Can't find info on the manual:confused: Your help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. ;)

If you had a moonroof on a 03 LX, you had an aftermarket one, not factory.

No. BUT it will close with the ignition turned off for up to 10 minutes if you don't open any doors.

That is correct. You had an aftermarket sunroof.

Why do you need it to automatically close?

Only the 03 EX model had the power moonroof. If your CR-V was a LX model, it was an aftemarket install.

My husband's opinion is I take care of the inside stuff and he does outside.... cars are outside so yes... ;)

This may seem unfair due to some seasons don't have much, or anything to do outside but periodically he plays mr mom to our 2 young boys. I just returned from Iraq in Sept and I am gone again until May (been gone a month already)... He definitely has the tough part...

I believe, what Badgerland is talking about is called "retained accessory power". There shouldn't be any time limit on it. Typically, you car can operate power windows, moon roofs, etc as long as your door hasn't been opened. Once door is opened, it breaks the power circuit so that none of your power accessories work until you restart your engine.

That was one of those nice suprises in the manual I did not expect: windows and moonroof can be closed after the ignition (for about 10 minutes after the ignition was turned off)! Very nice! In the old car I would always remmber the minute after :-)

I have not tested this, but the manual said 10 minutes or until the door is opened.

Sounds like some people wonder why you'd want the sunroof to close automatically..... have you ever left it open by accident and had it rain???? I did that once when we were camping....what a mess!! I like the idea of it closing automatically after a certain period of time....

I think what they mean is that if you sit in the car for up to 10 minutes after you turn off the car you can still close the moonroof... if the doors hadnt been opened...

I took advantage of this feature just an hour ago!

I take graduate classes in the evening so after work I stopped by Wendy's and got some food. I drove to school and parked, then proceeded to eat. Engine off, of course, and I got to roll down the windows and enjoy the breeze. Then when I was done eating (less than 10 min, I was in a hurry), I rolled up the windows and went on my way. It was nice to no have to put the key in to power the windows.

Pretty nice!

What would be nice is to change out the moonroof switch that performed the same way as the auto-close driver's window switch.

A single-press close/open would be good; a open-to-sunroof-open would be great . . .

Is there a way to disable the moonroof? basically I'd like to disable every function but starting and driving the car. The valet parking crew at work do mischievious things to our cars, and we "use at own risk". (trust me I'd rather park myself, the valet parking is virtually required not voluntary due to construction)

Unplug the switch from behind or pull the fuse for the moonroof (check that it's the only thing on that circuit first from your user's manual).

This is my first car with a sun roof, so I tend to forget to close it - I have used this nift little feature several times already - I took ignition key out and hten realize the roof is still open! No problem :-) Very nice!

Hi, newbie to the forum here.

Well, I had hoped to find my answer on this thread, but I guess I'll need to do a little more research. I have a 2006 CR-V EX with a moonroof. I would love to have it close automatically when the car is locked. And also have the 'auto-close' feature like the windows have.

I drove a 96' Barretta for 10 years. It had an after factory installed moonroof which did exactly that. I never had to worry about the moonroof being left open and I only had to press the button for it to either open or close all the way.

There must be someway to do this with my CR-V. I love my CR-V!!

I went shopping last weekend. We left the moonroof open. While in the store it rained hard! Nothing like driving home with wet seats. What a mess is right!

If I find out how to do it, I'll post it here.

i hate this in my cr-v :x my last car if i close it the windows and the mooroof close automaticly

Let's think about this from a modification standpoint.

You need something that works like the auto-close window. Essentially, something that can send the "close" signal for the right period of time.

Now, these buttons are semi-standard and such a thing may exist. If you can find one, it's a simple matter of adding relays and in the proper combination:

Run an "always on" power to power the auto windows/moonroof. From there, you just need a (I think this is the right term) a momentary switch attached to a relay, either with a NOR gate (when it senses the power went off) or just a regular momentary switch that gets a pulse from the security system.

It's doable; start with finding a switch that's capable of staying on for a finite period of time, and accomplishing the "close with a touch" ---- we've got some sharp people here that could walk you through the gate logic to getting it going.

Modding is what makes us really like our vehicles (look at the maplights mod in my signature as an example).

Ok. Little lost here. I understand how nice it would be for the sunroof to automatically close when you turn the car off. I wish it did.
But are some people saying that they wish they could hit the button for a sec and it will close or open all the way? Because it does... It least I kept doing just that this weekend...

It doesn't do that in the second gens . . .

The feature that is being asked about is similar to the "all windows up" feature when you lock certain aftermarket security systems, except for the moonroof.

Hah! Modding. If it was that simple. I bought nifty looking blue LED's for the wife's 04 to replace the OEM map lights and dome lights. BIG MISTAKE! She hated them. They are no longer in the car after 10 minutes of being in the car.

That would be a great accessory. Also I can think of a lot of other cool things I would like. But I think the price tag of the ex-l with nav is great... You win some, you lose some. And I love my car.

If you tap the button forward or back it will open or close all the way. If you push and hold one way or the other you can open or close it to what you want. If you push up one one end or the other it will tilt the sunroof or flatten it... Does this make since?

I asked about automating the moonroof as we discussed at the s2ki forum and was told what I needed to do was get an aftermarket alarm with a window module hooked up to the moonroof. One of the members had actually done this on her Intergra for the sunroof.

I don't get it. What is the purpose of the 10 minute power retention if it shuts down after you open the door. Don't you have to open the door to access the moon roof switch? I guess you could access it through the moon roof and quickly withdraw your hand but that seems like more trouble than opening the door and inserting the key.

It is so if you are just sitting in the vehicle you still have functional windows. It has come in handy many times for me in the Acura.

Yes, I get the part about sitting in the car waiting for someone/something. I have used it many times in my Accord also. I just didn't realizze there was a time limit.

Sticking your arm in the moon roof wouldn't have worked even it thats how id designed. The car door is going to be opened as soon as you get out unless you want to crawl out a window or the moon roof

I did not know it was legal! Isn't there some sort of standard for these?

On a related note I discovered why having back-up lights in white is a good thing - they work like mini head lights for the back-up camera lighting. Thet really lights up where you are going in reverse for the camera!

I had a Webasto aftermarket roof installed in my '99 V with this feature and I really miss it on my 07. The factory roof in my 07 is also smaller and doesn't open all the way. I imagine this may be intentional to limit air outflow to avoid "pulsing", but I really liked my old moonroof better.
