Hello,

I was driving my CRV happily when suddenly I saw white smoke through my rear mirror. The smoke cleared within 10 second so I thought that might be smoke caused by other vehicles.

Within the next few minutes, I noticed the air conditional was not functioning anymore, hot air equilvalent to outside temperature (34C) is blowing at my face. Car temperature is normal, no overheating.. All the LEDs are litted normally.

What could the problem be?

Will be away tomorrow for sometime so not able to send the car to KM for servicing. But can't sleep without getting this problem understood or fixed.

Any ideas?

Possibily blew the compressor and spilled all the refrigerant and the oil onto a hot motor or the manifold. That would account for the smoke. The compressor in my Civic went when a piece of the casing actually blew out leaving a hole in the side about 2" X 1" and a nice view of the compressor vanes threw the "window". A seal or a hose may have also let go. If that's the case, there may be no damage to the compressor since a low pressure cutoff switch is there for just such an occasion.

Ouch!! Hope your car is still under warranty...otherwise its gonna be an expensive trip down to the agent.

With the weather being scorching hot lately.... driving without air-con is like siting in a sauna room!! perspiring non-stop! haha..

hi,

Since the air-con is no longer blowing cold air, Pls. do not switch it on anymore or you will might cause more demage. If the problem is with broken seal or hose, don't turn on the air-con anymore or you will end up demaging the air-con compressor also.
