View Full Version : Anti Theft Registration fee
I decided to go for the Glacier Blue EX with a good price offered. Currently, I'm waiting for the loans to approve and I notice on the contract form, there was an additional of $288CAD for the Anti Theft Reg. fee, which is outside of what the salesman quoted. I'm wondering what this fee is all about, and is it possible to waive it. Thanks.

Sounds like a WDAP Fee.
(Worthless Dealer Added Profit)
Sort of like glass engraving, Teflon and no-wax paint protection, interior protection, rust proofing, most dealer added alarm systems, most dealer added (unwanted) accessories, etc.

Any Canadian buyers of the EX charged of this fee?

I would call DMV in your area to find out it is required or not if I were you.

Sounds worthless to me, but if its required in Canada........
If it isn't, don't do it.

Since nobody here knows, try a Google search for it.

I'll guarantee it's 'Dealer Added' (worthless).
Actually, I can still cancel the Anti Theft Registration thing. The lady told me that it was for the security alarm so that the Insurance knows that you have an alarm in the car. The lady said that I can forfeit it, but I will lose the alarm. As far as I know, the EX trim has an alarm, so does the dealership deactivate the alarm?

No, the dealer cannot deactivate the built-in system. This dealer is giving you the big scam. Just for fun, tell them you want to call Honda Corporate and ask about this. ;)

No such fee when we got ours 2 weeks ago. Only additional fee was the 100 AC tax and plate®istration fee (dealer did not charge for the installation of the plate) :).
We have the EX; it comes standard with the alarm - the insurance company knows this. Because the system is standard, you might not get an additional premium discount (already inlcuded in the insurance premium).
Yeah, talking to a few friends (non- CR-V owners), they say that it might be just some kind of security number etchings on the windows showing that your vehicle belongs and is registered to me. So I will probably forfeit it, like I forfeit other added stuff Honda suggested.

Buy JUST the vehicle and nothing else, unless you want the Hondacare extended warranty. They will try to rip you off where ever they can make extra profit!
Add accessories later, you can buy them cheaper online and install them yourself :)
GOOD LUCK!
