The ignition for my first gen cr-v is getting stuck today whenever i try to start the car. the key will turn on the 3rd or 4th try. i made sure the steering wheel is not locked and that the shifter is properly in "park"and everthing. it's been -10 C or so for the past couple of days but i don't think ignition would be frozen? i had the ignition switch recall done a year ago. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance

that happened to my acura as well ...when I start, the engine winds up slowly and then stalls on me...then i do it a second time and it reluctantly starts up....I highly doubt its the ignition at fault here, if ur ignition starts during other days
I think the oil is not being delivered fast enough to the engine pistons or something cuz i can feel the pistons slowing down from the friction against the cylinder walls...then again I could be wrong...

Low Temp does a few "extras":
1. Increases viscosity of oil....so the all the engine parts have to go that extra bit to do their job..
2. Fuel will not be properly vaporised (will condense quickly)...hence it will not ignite immediately.
3. Lubrication will be bad
4. Battaries drain very quickly.
5. Belts will be under extra tension...so some strange squeak sounds are expected
6...??

Thanks a lot guys. it probly has to do with the low temp then. This is the first time i had to keep the car not garaged because of school so it worried me when the ignition won't turn. the egine starts fine but what i ment was the ket wo'nt turn when i put it into the ignition until i try it a couple of times. thanks for the help. if it continues i'll take it to Honda to have it checked

Oh! Happens to me too....every once a while. I turn the key around and try again...often it works. I have often wondered why....but still no conclusive answers. I opened up the dash and looked at the key insert too....no idea of what's exactly happeneing.
Please let us know what you find out.
Thanks...

Lock-Eaze is a graphite-based aerosol that I use in my ignition and door locks a couple times a year. Some clown may have put some kind of oil into the ignition lock and it shows up on COLD days.
It comes in a tiny spray can, but you have to wipe your key with a tissue the first few times you use it, because graphuite is messy stuff (but it is the correct stuff for locks like yours) 'Curly'
