View Full Version : More Than 4.4 Qts. on an '04 Oil Filter Change ????
I just did an oil & filter change on my '04 EX and added the 4.4 U.S. Quarts of oil as prescribed in the Owners Manual. The level is barely above the lowest mark on the dipstick. The vehicle is on level ground, I allowed sufficient time for the oil to drain back into the crankcase before checking it. I used a Purolator Oil filter which is the same size as the stock filter.
I am confused. :?: Should I just keep adding oil until the level goes up??

I myself do not go by the recommend amount in the Owner's Manual... I just use that as a guide to know approx. how much oil I need to buy... And I usually get 1 liter more than indicated...
Just keep filling it until it reaches the MAX indicator line...

Changed my oil for the 1st time. 4.4 didn't raise the level to the proper line. Dumped the rest in.. 5 qt . close enough.
I usually put 4 1/2 quarts in. Then I drive it around that day and I'll check again at night. It's right above the MIN mark. So I slowed pour 1/4 quart more.
Just remember, too much engine oil will do MORE damage than too little engine oil.
