I need some help before I ask my service dept. to analyze.

I have a 2007 CR-V EX-L, NON Navi. It naturally has XM.

While playing the XM, you can continually hit the display button to change the screen display from the (not necessarily in this order) basic channel/preset #, to the category name, to the station name, to the NAME, to the TITLE, to something else, then back again.

I usually hit the button to get the NAME of the group up on the screen (I listen to LUCY on 54 often....reliving the college days). What I find is, when I turn the key off for a few minutes or more, and then come back to the car and turn on and go to XM again, it does not remember that I had it on NAME, and reverts back to the basic channel/preset #. I have to again hit the display button to get to NAME.

Also, quite often, it says LOADING on the screen while listening to XM and will stay like this for maybe 10 minutes before going away. It does this often, and it does not seem logical that it should be loading XM info. so often.

Now...my wife just got a 2007 Accord EX-L V6 NON Navi., and it has XM and does not do either one of these things. It holds the NAME preference until changed, and I can't remember when I last saw LOADING on the screen.

Both cars are still under the 3 month initial trial, but I don't think this matters.

Sooo....I'm trying to discover if the CR-V EX-L radio just has these idiosyncracies, or if it is malfunctioning. I hope not, as I don't want my dash taken apart.

Could some of you w/ 2007 CR-V EX-L NON Navi's, please run a quick test of the issue I mention above w/ screen display reset, and also offer a report on LOADING message frequency?

For direct comparison, apples to apples, I'm only concerned w/ EX-L Non Navi. owners.

I'll try to check back here often, as, w/ the new site, I can't seem to manage to get e-mail notifications to any threads anymore.

Thanks in advance. ;)

I have seen it get stuck "Loading" maybe twice in the month I've owned it. I haven't tried the "Name" Display thing, but will try that today and report back.

FWIW, my EX-L non-nav does exactly the same as you described.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies. I feel better...at least it's not a malfunctioning head unit.

Same with me too. I noticed that if you leave the radio on when you turn off the car and then turn the car back on "LOADING" shows up. When I turned the radio off before turning off the car, XM defaulted to the basic channel setting.

Yup, mine (mis)behaves in the same manner.

And it has annoyed me ever since I took delivery of the car in September.

I have two other vehicles equipped with XM, and they operate in the way one should expect. In those other cars, "Loading" seldom, if ever, appears -- and then only for a second or two; and the display remains in the chosen mode unless/until I choose another.

I find the CR-V's inability to hold a display mode to be very frustrating!

Our '07 CR-V EX-L (Non-Navi) behaves the same as many with the LOADING...message on the screen.

I wonder if the antenna has a connection problem as sometimes passing by some trees the signal is lost, causing static sounds (or no signal). Could there be a TSB for this issue? If you learn of one, please let us know.

I posted this a week or two ago as well.
Try the SEARCH feature, it works well. xm satellite reception
Here's some info I ran across in which a guy from Sirius mentions reception issues. Maybe you are not in one of the cities with repeaters set up?

"Satellite radio transmitters have potentially worse line-of-sight limitations than FM radio because the satellites broadcast using relatively small microwave wavelengths that are easily blocked by obstacles. Satellites orbit at such tremendous altitudes that many of these line-of-sight issues are negated, but antennas need a clear view of the sky to pick up these relatively weak signals. This isn't a problem in most outdoor environments, and both services are perfect for Interstate travel, but as soon as you drive through a long tunnel, wind through a tight canyon, or even enter a heavily forested area, the limitations of satellite broadcasting become immediately apparent.

This is especially true in cities, where buildings can easily block the satellite signals. Both companies have compensated by installing terrestrial repeaters in most major markets; the repeaters intercept incoming satellite signals and rebroadcast them locally at much stronger levels. Unfortunately, these repeaters are not installed in many smaller markets, so urban reception may remain poor depending on your location. "If there is an area in which we think coverage can be improved, we may add an additional repeater," says Butler, "but currently we're working within a very large robust network of repeaters-some 800 coast-to-coast."

Thanks mdugan7000,

I live in Southeast Kansas. Very rural where the tallest structures are grain elevators and a couple 'high rise' apartment buildings of 8 stories - and those are not too close together. There is little chance we could get a repeater installed in this area. I was hopeful that with Satellite radio, we'd get perfect reception as, for the most part, we have an unobstructed view of the skies.

We've owned our V for 2.5 months and I have read the entire owner's manual and reviewed the section on XM a couple extra settings. I'm a tinkerer and have tried every button combination that is described in the book as far as 'search' and attempts in improving reception.

I WILL mention this to our Honda dealership when I take it for scheduled maintenance.

Thanks again.

Mine is the same, and I wonder why the accord radio is so much better when they are supposed to be the same unit (I think....) Also, my radio does not scroll the full name of the song..... My Accord did....
I take mine is for service on 6/23 so I will ask Saratoga Honda
