Check Fuel Cap Message

I'll admit it...I'm lazy in not checking the manual, but since I'm on line, I'd like to ask if others have encountered minor issue: The main screen of the instrument panel information center is flashing "Check Fuel Cap". Of course, I've done this a number of times, including unscrewing and resecuring the cap, to no avail. Sounds like a typical electronic glitch, but I'm just curious.

For those who may be interested, the ever-trusty manual explains that, even when a slightly loose cap has been properly re-tightened to at least one click, it may take days for the "loose cap" indicator to disappear from the information display.

"3 trips" is an approximate number for the "cure". If it still comes back on, buy a new cap. The gaskets do get weak. Don't bother with a cheapie aftermarket one. Plenty of people here have posted about continuing issues with them.
