It depends on how much you want to spend. True that Michelin probably is one of the better, however, set of 4 snow tires will cost you upwards of $1400 including tax and installation.

Michelin X-Ice tires are $75 each at tirerack.com, Blizzaks are $80.
Even if I pay Honda's list price for a set of Honda steel wheels, a set of four with Blizzaks would be less than $1,000. And there are a set of four steel wheels on eBay right now for $262 ($170+$92 shipping), which means I could have a set for $582 + tax and mounting.
How did you come up with $1,400?

I have a set of steel wheels that I will give to someone free. $1,400 cost just went down.

I called my honda dealership and got a quote of $215 per tire "michelin X-ICE) i felt that was obviously way too high!!!

The high tire/wheel prices is what I spoke about a few weeks ago.
Sure, 17" ones look great, but just wait until you try to replace them.
You need to look for someone with an LX that upgraded their stock, steel wheels and wants to unload the "steelies" because they have a space issue.
Then, you can buy a set of winter tires to mount on them and keep the nice alloys and all-seasons for 8 to 9 month usage. That will save a bundle. Does tirerack.com ship to Canada?
I don't know if 2006 16"s will fit on a 2007 or not. Anyone know? Did the front disc brake calipers increase in size so that a 2006 16" wheel will not fit on a 2007?

Guy at the dealeship I bought my V from said that the 16" will NOT fit on our '07s.

Good word.
On my last car, I was offered GoodYear UHP Summer tires, mounted & balanced for less than that!

I thought 17"'s would be expensive too with my last car, but, while there were some that were terribly expensive, good ones aren't that bad anymore (in regards to tires only, not rims). Maybe it's because 17's are so common these days...?
My first set of 17 michilins were about $1000, 2nd set of ASHP tires were $880, last set of UHP were about $500-$600

I thought Michelin does not make X-ice in the 2007 CR-Vs size.
