I've read the manual (at least one of them.. haven't gotten to the Navi manual yet)... but I can't seem to find out what the mechanical noises are that you can hear after you turn off the ignition.

I don't think it's a problem, I'm just curious... this is my first CRV

Are you hearing a three second beep? If so, this was discussed in another thread ... can't remember which one though.

No, the beeps are different, this sounds like a mechanical griding noise..... like th noise the mirrors make when you move them... it's about 4 seconds long and it's after the car is off and the key is out.

Mine is making a hissing noise like it has a flat tire. I had it parked in the garage and heard the noise and had to inspect all the tires. It is still making the noise but no flat.......Can't figure out what it is.

I would say it is normal.

If you drove a BMW or Mercedes you would go crazy. My fathers ML500 has all sorts of electric motors whirring and the air suspension hisses as the car levels itself.

I believe that's the cd changer ( if you have one) I hear that too when I turn off the engine.

There's a LOT going on in the car even after you turn it off.

I hear a whirring (as if the fuel pumps are still on) for a few seconds after shutoff. And of course there are the ticking noises the hot heat shields make as they cool and contract.

On the '06 even the outside thermometer sensor is still "alive"; it will display the last recorded outside temp if the car is restarted within two hours, otherwise it will display actual outside temp. (This, so that engine heat doesn't make you think the display is inaccurate.)

I expect that one night, the V will wake me out of a sound sleep and ask me for a glass of water.

it's the 6 disc cd changer.that cycles in my car when I shut the engine down.
