I've been a Honda guy my entire life. 84 Civic, 91 Accord, 91 Prelude, 98 Prelude, 99 Civic Si, 99 Integra GSR.
And finaly, an 04 Pilot EX in Nighthawk black that I took home last night. I bought the car for $500 over invoice, probably not the greatest but i'm quite satisfied. I had been contemplating an Element, but that plan failed through. Lucky that it did, I suppose...
However, this morning I did notice superficial surface scratches on the paint that I somehow missed the night prior. I guess that's what happens when you purchase a car at nightime. Hopefully they can be remedied by good ol' buffing and polishing.
Regarding an alarm system, I would like to get an oem Honda alarm but I believe they're only available for the LX? At least that is what I understand from navigating the list of accessories on honda's website. Any help would be appreciated.
Looking forward in becoming an active participant in these forums. Cheers.

That's great! Congrats on your new '04 Pilot EX. I have the same '04 EX also but it's white color. I got mine late October last year and I'm really enjoying it.
All EX models have a basic alarm that the LX model don't have as standard equipment. You are correct that alarm on the LX is optional but their alarm is the same as our EX. When you lock your car with the remote, it is armed. The sound of the alarm are the horns and not the regular electronic sound in most car alarms. If you press the remote twice to lock and arm the alarm, the horn will sound once to let you know that it is armed.
Check out the Pilot Archived discussions in the Pilot pull down menu at the top of the page. There's a lot of info in there. You can also get some accessories from the marketplace link. What accessories did you get or want to get for your EX?
Welcome to the website, you will enjoy the info you can get from here.

Congrats on your new ride and welcome to hondasuv.com! Although I'm not nowhere close to your passion, I'm also a Honda fan.
I seconded to what desertpilot said. Your EX comes with the factory alarm. Since you mentioned that you'd like to get a Honda OEM alarm, that would be it.

Which trim level did you get, just the plain EX? What was the invoice price the dealer quoted you? For the base EX the invoice is $27,003 including dest. If you got it for $27,500 that is excellent.
Where are you located? Here in So. Cal the best I was able to find was $1400 over invoice on my EX-L with DVD. My dad who until recently worked at a Honda dealership in N.J. told me that they are getting $1200 over Invoice minimum on all pilots.
Congrats on a great negotiation. I should have had you along when I was buying.

Hi,
That is correct, the Pilot is the EX model sans leather.
I used $27,000 as the invoice price (including dest) when I was haggling the dealer. I guess I didn't really haggle, since I figured out what I was willing to pay for the vehicle at home before going to the dealership.
At first I negotiated out the door price, guesstimating the additional tax, license fee, etc. But the manager didn't like that. In fact, he tried to confuse me in a sort of reverse logic argument. But I ignored his tactics.
He insisted that I give him an offer on what I wanted to pay for the Pilot. So I told him $27,500 (plus the necessary tax & fees); Which brought the total Out the door price to the same amount he had just rejected just a few minutes before. :P
The salesman said there is "no way" he can let the Pilot go for that price. I thanked him for his time and walked out...only to be chased down a few seconds later. "If I gave you the car for $27,500 are you going home with it tonight?"
I sure did.
I guess I was just optimistic on being able to get the dealer to come to my terms and not vice versa.
I'm located in Big Bear Lake, CA.
Thanks for your reply btw.

Congrats scorpaznatica on your new Pilot and welcome to the best site in regards to Honda SUV's!
Yeah, it's always nice to get your own way with salespeople...
Wow, seems like people are getting great deals nowadays. Just imagine, back a year ago, LXs were going for $30K!
Welcome scorpaznaica...you should be loving your Pilot in the snow!

That is a very good deal you've got. Good job! Which dealer did you buy it from?
