I've had my CR-V just over one week. I had the dealer install a remote starter and alarm system this weekend. I have a question for anyone who has a 2007 CRV.
When it's dark and the engine is on, is there any backlighting to the climate control section of the dashboard. I noticed for the first time last night on the drive home that this section of the dash was dark, I couldn't see what the fan or heat dials were set to. I don't remember it being dark before but I've only had the car a week. It's possible something was damaged during the remote start install or maybe I'm just crazy and those controls were always dark.
Any thoughts??

Are you sure you had your lights turned on? :?

Yes I had my lights on...I drove home 40 miles over highway and back winding road. The only light on the climate control area was the green light indicating I had selected air flow to feet and dash.

The only lighting I noticed are the buttons, CD player information area, and the two lines of purple backlighting for the dashboard (although it doesn't help much... just eye candy). The air controls are not illuminated if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the info. I guess nothing was damaged but it does seem strange that there is no night time illumination of those controls. Well beside this and not having key access to the rear hatch, I'm a very happy camper with my new blue CRV

It is illuminated, something is either wrong or only your daytime running lights are on.... Please check all of your fuses and also that your lights are switched all the way on. G3 CRV's are equipped with LED lit gauges which are constantly lit even during the daytime.

My gauge lights are working, but we were talking about the dashboard controls, more specifically the temperature controls.

Yes. They should be illuminated.

They should be on when you turn on your headlights. Have you tried turning the light/dimming control to the fullest?
Any updates on your situation?

The intrumentation directly in front of the driver are always on but the climate control backlights only come on with the headlights.

On the Gen 3, there is no adjustment for dimming, it is adjusted/dimmed automatically when the headlights are turned on.
However in any case, if you turn on the headlights, the backlight on the climate controls will turn on. All the white pictures and dials do light up. If you have an EX-L, the seat heater switch also has a back light.
You may want to bring it back in to have them check it out.

I know the gauges are always lit, thats why they looks dark when the car is off. They are LED. I am very familiar with them.
You are wrong, there is a dimmer for the dash lights and gauges. Read your manual. :?

Thats right, its the same knob for resetting your trip-meter, just turn the knob left or right to adjust the brightness.

Thanks for all the help. Looks like a call to the dealer and a trip back to have the lights fixed.
I just took my first longer trip with the new CR-V and it performed great. My previous car was a 92 Civic. It was so great to be up higher and not feel like the trucks were going to drive over me.

Sorry sleeksilver/bfstong,
I went over the manual many times but didn't see that one. My bad. I learned something new today. That trip meter knob has lots of functions! 8)

No worries =) I said the same thing to my girlfriend for the first week when I got the CRV, "I can't adjust the brightness on the gauge!!"
