3 days after I picked up my new V, did a Boston to Chicago Thanksgiving run...just about time for an oil change... :)

What was your mileage like, mpg etc. Did it get better on the return trip?

Overall I think I averaged about 25-28mpg, holding about 70mph or so...highest if I can remember was 28.5mpg.

Sweet, it should even better with more miles. By the way are you changing the oil because it's reached 0% or the mileage? 8)

I think I'm currently at 60% or something...but because of the dealer, I have to go by "their rules" for the added warranty...I think through Honda - it's what - 3/36? The dealer ups everything after the 5/60 for the powertrain to 5yr/100k (as long as I play by their rules with regular maintenance).

What kind of extended warranty did you get? Is it not HondaCare?

It's actually through the specific dealership -- can't remember the name of the specific warranty, but the paperwork basically says that if all the regular maintenance is performed there, any regular warranty work that would regularly apply to the 5/60 is honored through 5/100...

Since I do most of the maintenance on mine, I plan to take it to at least 10 or 5% of the oil life and take advantage of the "break-in" oil that Honda puts in the for first time. 8)

If you go to an oil change shop, like say Mobil1, should you change your oil every 3,000 miles like they say since their oil isn't as superb as Honda's, or do the suggested 5,000 miles like Honda tells us?

I'll do the 3000 miles after the break-in period, but one thing I noticed in the owner's manual is that the onboard computer govern's the engine oil life based on condition's and the way you drive. so i'll just keep that in mind as well. 8)

...sitting at the dealership right now for an oil change -- about 3850 miles.
