Has anyone figured out how to make the accessory outlets hot all the time without having to have the key on :?:

That was the first question for my spring mod projects. I'm looking to add front and rear switches to divide the cabin lighting mods, using the front and rear power supplies of course. In my head I was thinking it might be less work, mess or time with fewer wires. The more I think of it though I think I need to install it the same way regardless in order to get the rear lighting to the switch in front? Someone here should have a manual which lists the color code / fuse info. Great Q Thanks!

I thought about doing such a mod, but decided to wait until I could work out a few technical issues.
I use the receptacles to run a cooler. The model I chose for size doesn't have an auto cutoff for low battery condition, so if I leave it on acccidentally, I could run the battery flat. Without such a feature, the Honda's standard wiring works in my favor. As I am forgetful, I try to make my vehicles self-proof.
So I am working up 3 alternatives. The first has a low voltage sensor that cuts off receptacle power at 10.6 volts. The second adds is a signal alarm that senses accessory current draw when the ignition switch isn't in the on position, similar to the headlight alarm. The third is a gelcell battery that charges during vehicle operation, and powers the accessory outlets when the engine is off. It could also function as a reserve to the main battery, since it would be isolated whenever the primary battery voltage dropped below about 10.6 volts (simple rectifier isolation).

I understand that a jumper replacing the back two connections of the jack for relay that goes in the glove-compartment will always-on the rear power outlet (but PLEASE read up on it for specifics!), but that the front outlet is a bit harder to do, fwiw.

There are several owner posts at www.elementownersclub.com that describe this modification in detail with photos.

if i recall there is a constant running to the hitch if you have one, and also the tailight, you could catch power back at that or just pull the seat out, the screw and pop it all out adn run a fused link to that outlet rather than catching power anywhere.

I followed the instructions on the site shown above and it worked perfectly! Easy to do, and now the rear outlet on my CR-V is always "hot." I've got a gooseneck map light plugged in to illuminate the space underneath the cargo cover, and wanted it to work without having the key in the ignition.
