We wanted a smaller SUV that had room, reliability, AWD and decent fuel economy. The Honda CRV stood out as the number one selection. Our older SUV, 1999 Isuzu Rodeo LS (non-4x4) has been great, though it is starting to show its high mileage. Our son will need our ’02 Honda Accord SE for college soon and it does well in the snow with the TOYO Observe snow tires.

We visited our local Honda dealer (76 miles away) test drove a new ’07 CRV and placed our order. The EX-L with AWD, Tea Green with roof rack, fog lights, all season mats, rear splash guards and the compass auto mirror. No, we have no need for the $2k NAV system - my wife and I can read maps thank you. Cost: we split the difference between the posted MSRP and invoice.

It took our sales guy about two weeks to nail one down for us and we picked it up this past weekend. I’ll have to make a trip back for the add-ons to be installed. I would have ordered the items via one of the Honda parts outlets but its cold in my garage and I don’t want to freeze while installing the electrics.

We are really pleased with the CRV – it has way more than we are normally accustomed – :D we can handle it though! Looking forward to a nice road trip to see just what this new vehicle is all about.

I read that the U.K. version of the CRV has a 2.0L engine and a diesel option. A six speed manual trans is offered too. I wonder if the diesel will be offered in the U.S. next year. When we say good bye to the Rodeo we will be looking to get a high mileage diesel – car or SUV.

Welcome to the site and congrats on your purchase :)

The diesel should be here in a few years, and I pray it has the manual!!!

Welcome Ranger Bob.

It will be interesting to see Honda offer a "clean" diesel for the US market. Currently new diesel vehicles are not 50 States legal due to differences in diesel quality. However, California is supposedly going to offer the low sulfer version soon and NY will too.

In any case, enjoy your new CRV. I'm beginning to see more on the road and it looks great. Heck, all models of CR-V look great and with proper care, these cars definitely stand the test of time...and high mileage!

Cheers!
