Recently I purchased a 2004 V. I owned a 1998 previously, having bought it used 15 months ago. Honestly, I wasn't sure I was going to like the CR-V since I went from a 4-Runner into this little ute. Within a week I was hooked. Easier to maneuver, no having the shift into 4WD to maneuver our roads, and above all better fuel economy right at the time gas prices were edging upward. My little '98 got me through a trecherous winter this year and impressed me how well it manuevered in snow and ice (with studded tires). However, there were little things that bugged me about the '98. The clock was big one, the window switches and locks were annoying as was opening the rear window prior to opening the door. The biggest issue was the automatic shifting at high speed (speed limits on the interstates where I travel are 75MPH). There was consistent fluctuation between the gears which made me crazy. I had taken Buddy in for servicing and wandered over to look at the then '03 models. Naturally a saleman wasn't far behind and I looked it over as well as the Element and Pilot. I was mostly impressed by the V. Fast forward to two weeks ago when I went back to dealer and this time test drove the '04. Every tiny annoyance in the '98 had been addressed in the '04 including the smooth shifting at high speed. I absolutely LOVE Sunny...my new Mojave Mist V and am looking forward to many happy miles.

Hey Kathy,
Congratulations on your new CRV. I had a 1998 and now have a 2002. It was a nice "upgrade" to the 2002. There were so many things Honda did improve.

Happy CR-Ving :-)

Congrats on your new V, Kathy! That one is a great color!!

Did you trade your '98 or sell it privately?

Thanks Criana and Shel. I absolutely LOVE the '04. As for the '98 I traded it in along with my '00 Miata. Got what I wanted for each based on research done before the deal. Overall...a great experience including a great interest rate on the loan. Still waiting on the roof rack though. It is due in late this week.

I really like the Chianti Red, Black and Silver. Went with Mojave Mist Metallic since it closely matched the mud and dirt on our road! :)

congrats on your purchase, though I would have kept the 1gen cuz they are better looking IMO.
