We should all be glad, we are in the US since the markup they have in Thailand is outrageous. I came back from business trip from Thailand last week and they are asking over $50k.

Yup, car prices in Thailand are crazy, as with most of asia.

I've put a deposit down for a '07 2.4 AWD Silver with Black interior. They say it'll be sometime January till I get it.

I'm hoping that the rear differential problem is isolated to the Japanese imports in USA.

and I was complaining about Costa Rica, with a price of 35K for a LX and 39K for a EX, both manual, if you want auto add another 1.5K more.

It's rather interesting that many (if not all) of the videos were shot here in Los Angeles, even though they were intended for Thailand. The footage of the CR-V driving in the city was definitely taken in downtown LA; there was even a brief glimpse of a US Postal Service truck. Although North American Honda is headquartered in Torrance (not far from my office), you'd think that these would have been done in Japan if the ads will be used in Asian countries.

Last year someone posted links to ads for a Honda minivan that's not even sold in the US, but the scenes were all in the Los Angeles area. Right-hand drive, Japanese actors, but cruising down Pacific Coast Highway and parking in front of familiar buildings -- it was kinda weird! Then again, this IS Hollywood, so perhaps Honda feels that the video and production talent available here is the best they can get and it's easier to ship the vehicles here than to send the people to the intended markets.
