Details? Just a patch cord from your cell phone to the AUX input port? Some other device? What causes it to automatically disable the sound when the phone rings?

Good luck getting a patent :P I am almost certain, Honda won't allow it since you are using what they already have rather than coming up with completely new idea. It's worth a try thought.

Ok, You got my attention.
What do you use for the microphone when it is plugged into the AUX port on the radio? If I understand you correctly, you are using the 1.5mm headset jack on the side of the phone and patching that directly to the AUX port. I got that, but how do you speak into the phone with the patch cable plugged in? When it is plugged into mine, the onboard microphone is disabled and it uses the boom mic on the headset.

The radio just detects a call and makes the switch.
I'm confused on this part. When I plug my PDA through the Aux port, as soon as it is connected to the Aux Port, the stereo switches to Aux. If I switch off to CD or whatever, then in order to get Aux back I have to unplug and replug the cord. It definitely doesn't just swap when the player is started again. I'm definitely interested in this cable!

Hi,
My new CR-V gets delivered on the 2nd Feb. Here in NZ, my one is called a 'Sport' model. It has the leather, sunroof, fog lights, whatever those fancy headlights are called.
My previous vehicle was a Honda Euro. I installed a carkit for my cellphone, muting the radio when the phone rung.
I understand the CR-V has the newer version of the stereo in my Euro, which also allows the CR-V's speaker system to be used as the carkits speaker. As I used to be in the carkit installation business, I will be working it out and will post my results.
To mute the stereo, you will need to trigger the stereos factory input for radio mute. This is a pin connection on the stereo loom that will mute when the connection is held at ground. Most carkits have a wire specifically for this. The feeding of the audio in to the stereo from the carkit (by either a specific connection allowed on the stereo or by the aux input) comes with a possible issue.
Most carkits speaker outputs are regarded as 'high power'- meaning neither of the speaker wires are referenced to ground. As some stereos with audio input have one of the inputs referenced to ground, hooking the two up causes interference (if you're lucky) or more commonly, a blown up carkit.
It is possible to use just one of the two speaker wires from the carkit- this sometimes works, but has limited success.
I am talking about issues as I have experianced on other systems/vehicles, as I have yet to tinker with the new CR-V's.
I'll let you know once done!
cheers from New Zealand!

Thank god! I saw some othe postings from this guy and thought I was going blind stinking mad because everyone else could understand him but I couldn't . . . and I'm a tech guy!
I've always thought it was odd that you can edit a post after someone replies; usually that's the cutoff. (See the thread on snow and traction ;))
