I am considering to make offers on the CRV LX or EX 2WD and was curious how much off of sticker price you were able to negotiate.
I live in MI and the current economy is not at all robust so this might help some..
Thank you for your feed-back!

Check out KBB.com or edmunds. Get the invoice price and start from there. I got a EXL AWD for $500 over invoice. Good luck.

Since the all wheel drive model is all of $1200 (list price) more, get it. It will retain that extra value down the road and who in Michigan wants a 2wd SUV?
It is well worth the extra now.

I picked the 2WD over the AWD because the rear wheels only work if the front slips & with tractions control & such, doesn't seem like it would be needed.
So I am saving some $

But you are loosing the money you saved when you go to trade the vehicle in. 4WD has a higher resale value no matter where you are in the country.

You should have watched some of the videos of other members playing in the mud, sand and snow. You would re-think your opinion on the RTAWD capabilities.

I live in central NC, so we got the 2WD CR-V. If I lived where it snowed any more frequently than once every two years, I would definitely have gotten the AWD version.
But to answer your question, we paid about $750 under MSRP for our 2WD EX, plus we got a set of all weather mats thrown in. I have no doubt there are better deals out there, but in our area every CR-V that's coming in has someone's name on it already.

We're in the Triangle (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill to you non-North-Carolinians).

That's all relative to your end goal. Personally, I bought mine to survive my first child (next month), haul the dog places and service us and another child for 10 years. I bought on the basis of dependability, reliability, inexpensive maintenance (1st non-euro car) and to some extent disposability.

Should we assume that by now you've purchased a V? I bought one in Grand Rapids the end of last October for $1,000 off list, if that's any help.
I totally agree with other posters -- if you haven't yet gotten one, definitely get the AWD. Even in West Michigan, I've never *needed* AWD, but there've been many times it sure would have come in handy -- so much so that it was one of our requirements when we looked for a new vehicle last fall.
For those outside of Michigan, we have a governor who seems to want to chase jobs away. We're still in the 2001 recession -- last place in economy of all 50 states. Found out a couple weeks ago my employer is closing up by the end of the year, too.
And You Da Man, where are you in West Michigan?

Not sure if that would have made up for the extra $1200 + tax + interest on that $1200, but no matter now - I ended up with an AWD anywho....

Um...I don't get mud on my vehicles* so that wouldn't have been a selling point for me.
*meaning my vehicles never go off road (intentionally)
